If it's an automatic honestly the 4:10's are better from a roll. And your 1st gear isn't up in smoke either. Just heads up if it's auto.

you will have to get someone to drive beside you to figure out how much your speedo is off, then go to a ford place and tell them your speedo is off by X amount, but do no tell them about the gears. Also link to this Fera tuner?

With 4.10s your transmission is going to shift quick so don't be surprised if your only in 1st gear for about 2-3 seconds before it shifts to 2nd gear.

You are going to have a lot of fun at stop lights for the next few days.

QUESTION
I'm looking at the 4.10 gears for my 01 v6. I'm not sure if i should get the 3.73 or the 4.10's. I drive alot and if the 4.10's eat up my gas mileage that might be a bad thing. Would 3.73's be a safer investment compared to the 4.10's?

I've been driving between New Orleans and TN every other week for the past month. The 4.10s haven't hurt my MPG enough for me to notice a difference and my car doesn't seem to have a problem with the higher RPMs.

With that said, if you are more into hwy driving that stoplight to stoplight "racing", go with the 3.73s and I think you will be happier.
