A few auto transmission questions

Alright, so i know the first that needs to be done is a transmission cooler.

after that i understand there are a few tweaks and mods that can be done to improve shifting and increase ability to hold power while staying in one piece

however i seem to be finding some mixed info.

what i would like to know is if on the 1999 4R70W auto transmissions, is the Jerrry mod, or JMOD, still worth doing?

the how to link i found is here.

TCCoA Tech Articles

is for a older(1997) transmissions. are there other suggested drill sizes to use etc...?

also are there any other modifications that can be done with the use of a drill press and replacement gaskets and parts?

i would enjoy doing the mods myself then simply buying a shift kit, however if there is a kit that just has things like springs and gaskets, that still have you do the drilling, that'd be great!

also i should note that the end goal(not for awhile ) for the car is 300-400HP (turbo, maybe built guts etc...) so i would rather do most the mods to the tranny while im in there

Thanks all for the help!

-levi

p.s. searching yielded me the posted link, as well as confusion

I installed a B&M Shift kit formy '98 4R70W. I had to drill some holes, replacing springs, and other little stuff. I like it a lot, a lot more responsive shifts. (I can break the rear tire loose going into 2nd). I have put about 6,000 miles on it since it was installed and no problems.

You might want to think about a highstall tc, just a thought while your figuring out your transmission goals.

Thanks for the info! im still debating on the shift kit Vs the mod....

as for the highstall TC thats just for better launches right? id probably pass as it wont be a drag car... more of twistys and road course toy.

would still like to hear more info about the J-MOD...

check out trans-go shift kits as well, I did a lot of research a while ago on different kits and the j-mod, and trans go looked the best

Get an sct tuner to ajust shift points and firm up shifts. You will need this becuase since the auto shifts you wont be in the greatest gear for turns. fthere might be a way to tune it so it downshifts easyer when you let off the gas so you can be in a better gear for turns. Just my .02
