(2000 Mustang V6) I think my lifters are bad?

It all started a few days ago, from the inside of the car, it seems to come from behind the speedometer and rpm tach.
it will do it sometimes when it starts up cold and then when it idles down to about 700rpm it goes away most of the time but not always. When the engine gets hot, it gets a little louder but not too much. It usually clicks between 800 - 1000rpm and goes away after that. I figured that if anything Id hear it under the hood but i cant hear anything unless i place a broom stick on the engine with the other end to my ear to hear the inside of the engine through the stick, and you can really hear it under the air intake with the broom stick to your ear..its starting to tap even at an idle now too..
I thought it might be my crank so i put the stick on the oil pan like a friend told me to and listened for odd noises and everything seems to sound ok in there.
Everyone i have talked to is saying its my lifters because its coming from under the air intake on the passenger side, but can only be heard through a stick or if you sit in the drivers seat inside of the car..

Someone please help me, Im new to these Mustang engines lol

Thank You for any help at all

By intake, do you mean intake manifold? I sounds like I could be lifters to me, but I'm not the guys to give a good answer on that, as I have never experienced it.

If i understood this all correctly Mr. Red Pony might be right, Im thinking it could be a sticky lifter which is where the sound is coming from.

it is at autozone. You put in in your intake, gas, and oil.

ok will do, oh and when you asked about if its under the intake manifold, if you can, go and look at my profile pics and look for the pic of the engine, i took a picture with the pole on the place of the engine where it taps a lot, let me know what you think

Did you get the seafoam to get the lifters running good again. I think I got the same thing and it'd be nice to see if this worked before I go to the other options.

thanks.

well i did pay the extra $6 the first time and put it in the wrong PCV hose and there was no vaccum on that one so most of it ran out the air filter so i had very little to put in the right PCV hose.lol the only thing i used the B12 for was through the vaccum hose and not strait into the crank case. after seein it eat through plastic i deffinatly wont do that so the OP should disregard my first post and spend the money. it is weird tho that the B12 is stronger and cheaper than the more expensive seafoam

they cut corners and use cheaper chemicals that are more harmful to your engine
