Is it the same thing?

Would putting a stroker kit on a 3.8 mustang be the same thing as buying a precision 4.2L motor? If so which would be cheaper?

What tools do you need to bore out the engin for the parts? A milling machine? I have no clue.

that one will come down to mechanical fees a stroker kit will run what 1.5-2k? and a new engine is 2.5k but with using your old you have to uninstall teardown then rebuild...

so its only a few hundred in difference...

the thing is the 4.2 is new... so thats a huge swing on top of the price

so you are gonna do this in your garage?

an engine lift... a few jack stands and or engine stand... lot of wrenches and an impact should do it... just simple mechanic tools... maybe a crow bar or two?

if you wanna do this in your garage i say get the 4.2 cuz thats just an easier endevour... but thats just me

Theres no boring involved, thats why its a stroker kit. It just lengthens the distance the piston travels within the cylinder walls. the kit would include bearings, new crank, and new rods. you can use stock pistons

... well you would have to rip apart the whole block... so pretty much what ever tools that takes... which i believe wouldn't be much more then wrenches and pry's... but thats just me... do you have a chilton or hanes?

read throught those and see if they say anything about rebuilidng an engine cause thats all your doing when storking... just now you have a longer pull/push so the psiton head moves farther ... therfore a bigger crank... but the block shouldn't have to be modded... you can contact a maker of stroker kits and see if the block needs to be remachined in anyway... but i am pretty positive it doesn't

Takin forever is what there doin!! the engine has been back together forever now but it took over a week for supersixmotorsports to send the cam. then when the mechanic got it he realized they sent him the wrong one! so he had to send it back and wait for them to get it and then resend back out the correct one. he was supposed to get the correct cam the beginning of the previous week but we didnt hear from him so im callin monday morning cause it should be pretty much done now. aside from him having the guy they use tune it which i dont know if theyve started or not.
