yea high pressure water works well... just like with your thumb over the end kinda high pressure

just don't get it in your filter if you do let that dry... and make sure that all holes... like the dip stick and shit are properlly plugged... like they should be...

like i said don't wash it while its hot... cuz that can do damage

ya a pressure washer would work alright just make sure you dont get too close to the engine, pressure washers can cut shit up, also watch if you use it on your car because it can catch on a nick and pull the paint off

just go to one of those quarter car washes spray on the tire cleaner let it sit about 10 mins. Then spray it down with high pressure rinse it will be fine.

wash your engine when its completely cooled down.. or you might regret it and try to avoid spraying near your air filter

I bought a engine degreaser from advanced auto parts. It's easy. Spray it on a warm engine...not hot...warm. Let it sit and then just pour water on it. If you have some stubborn stains get a rag or a brush. It works. No need for high pressure, don't need to wrap any parts.

Yeah. You can just spray it down.

And if you don't wanna use the degreaser in your drive way since it can make the pavement slick. Go to a coin-op wash your car and by the time you down the engine will be fine to degrease(which will be labeled as tire cleaner some places) and just let it sit and rinse like cricket said, and high pressure is for us lazy people lol.

Ummm.

Hi guys,

Stupid question... If we shouldn't spray a hot engine for fear of warping something, or getting water in the alternator, ummm... Why can we drive our cars in the RAIN?

Just an observation.

Also, heard stories of hot stainless steel exhausts and cold water causing problems.

Any truth to this? Sometimes you can't avoid that big puddle.

Cheers

SOHC

rain wont hurt you at all. lol. good question though. when you hit a puddle most of the water just shoots out of the way anyway. Some may hit your oil pan or tranny, but its all lower end. Nothing is going to hit the top ewnd of your engine. The hood is desiged to rave "run offs" in it for the rain to travel down and out by the fenders.

Ya if you really think about it the raindwater doesnt get on the topmost part of your engine, that's where you don't want to get wet. The engine is also "water proof" in the fact that you can spray it because you do drive in the rain and it might get wet under normal activities.
