Gears

Could someone explain to me how changing your gears ratio works? Which gear? etc........

I keep seeing this all over the forums about people upgrading theres to like 4.10's and that after you do a install like that you'll only be in first gear for a few seconds. Also if i Did this would there be any specific gear you change or all of them?

I have a v6 so the stock gear numbers might be different for you not sure, but

stock 3.27 gears(ring and pinion in your rear dif.) your tires will go 3.27 rotations per 1 rotation of the driveshaft, but with 4.10 gears your tires will go 4.10 rotations per 1 rotation of the driveshaft. Hence you get much better acceleration.

Actually it will make you spin more on the street if you leave hard. But on the track with slicks that wont happen..
