Release Bearing....

My release bearing is starting to go out because it squeals whenever i let my foot off the clutch pedal. everyone around here wants to charge me like 500 to change it because they say you have to replace the entire clutch at the same time due to the fact that the bearing is only sold in the kit. i did a little research online and found a wholesale website that sells the release bearings on its own for like 35 bucks. should i buy it? and if so....how hard is it to change it out? any replies would be greatly appreciated! thank you!

if dropping your transmission is hard to you then its hard. its really not. but i suggest changing your clutch and pilot bearing while in there. especially if your car has a good amount of miles on it. i changed my clutch myself it was easy just time consuming. you'll need ratchets, alot of different sizes, ratchet extension, ratchet elbow or swivel(w/e you call it), a breaker bar, torque wrench and a few cans of elbow grease. and change your trans oil while your at it.

for your first time it will be like a 2 day thing. get a buddy to come over for the weekend and do it. you have fun while learning and seeing how the clutch actually works. just dont kick your transmission off the jackstand like i did -_-
