Need help quick and fast.

Alright so I completley forgot about my safety inspection tomorrow for my stang. And yesterday my passenger side brake pad decided to go to shit causing that annoying and terrible metal on metal grinding noise. Now its 11pm so there is obviously no time or way I can replace it before 10am tomorrow. I know people wont like this idea, but I know the guy will fail me the second he goes to pull my car into the engine bay for the inspection which can't happen because I need my car for my job, and I am not getting tickets for a rejection sticker. I can do a brake job later on tomorrow but only after the inspection sooo....

Any way I can hide the noise for a day? Like some sort of grease or oil just so the noise isn't apparent for my inspection? I know its a shitty thing to do and frowned upon in the "mechanics" world to cover something wrong up rather than replace it. But I am replacing the pads anyways just after the inspection. See my predicament?

they should check to see how much you have left on your pads anyways. Drive with an expired sticker for a couple days before you get it fixed, no cop will realize it

DO NOT PUT GREASE OF ANY KIND OR OIL ON YOUR BRAKES. EVER.

either that or go to a junky inspection place where they don't really care about failing you

Wake up early and just do that one side. You should be able to get it done..

Well I was just talking to ESG on aim, and he said its very easy to change the pads out, all it involves is removing the wheel, unbolt the 2 bolts on the caliper, slide the caliper up and swap pads and put back together. If thats the case then I can get up early enough and run to auto zone quick and get new pads. I havent done a brake job before so its all new to me.

How far is the nearest autozone from the inspection place? Do you have any old pads? If you know what you are doing, you can change the pads on the one in about 30 minutes. Maybe see if you can bump the time up an hour. Im sure if you bring a jack, 2 c-clamps, and some sockets, you can do it in the parking lot of AZ. I switched my pads on my front pass in less than 15 minutes.

I got a small tool box in my trunk at all times, with sockets a couple allen wrenches, one screwdriver with attachment ends, etc. And now your telling me I need to buy C clamps? Lol I don't have any. Could I get by without them? And Autozone is within a half mile from me lol. Don't got jack stands handy either, my buddy has them. But since I am not going under the car I am not worried about just using a jack.

well, you just need to jack up one wheel. Is it front or back? You just need something to push the pistons back in. And you just need to remover one bolt and you can let the caliper pivot on the other bolt.

It is really easy.

If the pad is only burnt up on one side, you might be able to get by on switching them around, but I would recommend just get some cheep pads (like 15 buck)

Its the front ones. And I see on autozone I can get pads for both front wheels for $27. Haha wonder how cheap I can get a C clamp. Cuz I don't have one anywhere in my house.

You would need two. AZ might have some in the store, and if you ask nice, they will let you use them in the parking lot... I always borrow tools off the sheft. They just make me clean them off.

Well im going to need them more than once, and plus I like having extra tools at my disposal without worrying if I can get them or not. And will it be very noticeable on where I need to put the c clamps on?

remove one of those bolts. and pivot the caliper out on the other bolt.

you will see the pistons through the cutouts. You will push them back in. It will be obvious how to.

Yep, the front brakes are easy. I had to give the calipers a couple of good whacks with a hammer to loosen them enough to pull them off though. Don't forget to compress the caliper pistons before you try to put them back on. Take the cap off the brake fluid reservoir then either use a caliper compression tool or just some sort of large clamp. The front don't need to twist in.

Alright, so many things have gone wrong already. I want to find the previous owner and beat him with something. So first I went to buy brake pads, c clamps, brake cleaner. Fine that went well. Get home, pull the jack out of my trunk (after throwing away a bunch of old crap that was back there that I don't need anymore) and put it next to my car. Then I go back for my lug nut wrench thing which I figured would be under my spare tire too. BUT NOOOO I don't have one. The previous owner must of somehow thought it would be a good idea to keep it? Now I am trying to find one at autozone, or advance and it doesn't seem like one of those things I can just go out and buy. Today is turning to shit already and its only 8:30am...

Oh yea, and I don't even know if the lug nuts on there now are the stockers. They look like they came with the rims that the previous owner bought, so I don't even know if a OEM replacement lug wrench would even work. AND my brakes are pretty much not working and I can't bring my car to one of these stores to see if it would even fit. I been trying to find the rims online so I can get some specs on that stuff. But I forgot they are discontinued and are impossible to find. Can someone shoot me please?

EDIT: I finally found them online, but can't find shit for specs... http://viprims.com/WheelDetail2.asp?Link=2047 I know ugly ass rims, not my choice on them though. I plan on at least painting them black to make them look a little better. But now that I know the actual name of them I still can't find any specs on the lug size. So I guess I can just go to Autozone, pickup an OEM replacement lug wrench (closest one I found is about 15 miles away. And before handing them money explaining my situation and telling them I might be right back to return this. lol.

good thing you never got a flat
the wrench should fit from autozone, the lugnuts may not be OEM but the ones I bought from American Muscle work fine with my original wrench,
