flucuating RPMs

so today i hooked my Sct tuner and loaded my 91 custom race tune.
i noticed while i was idling my rpms would jump back and forth between 500 and 1000rpm. can anyone tell me why this is or if its normal?
its a 2004 auto v6

I guess I will beat everyone at saying the same thing. Clean your IAC, if that don't help clean your MAF and TB.

It could be doing that if it doesn't have 91 through it. Mine did that when I got my tuner. The tank was half half with 93 and 87 on a 93 tune.

Have you been running 91 for a while before the tune?

Doesnt somewhere with the tuner or on AM or somewhere say before uploading a tune make sure you have a clean MAF, IAC, TB and such? I heard that somewhere having a dirty one of those could give some issues...

Set it to stock and see if it still does it. If not, then clean those, and re-tune.

i cleaned both the iac and maf and set it back to stock for a couple days(2) and rpms still jumped a bit but now much it threw codes P0171 P0174, I re-tuned it to 91Race and it and the CEL turned off now.

Tune issue not so much the IAC or other air sensors ... contact tuner, try to do some datalogging. Who did tune?

i have the same car w/ 93 tune, sometimes it will bump up like 100-200 rpm for a sec then go back to normal. But that is normal i believe tune or not. When I put my gears in I bumped my idle rpm up like 150 or so just for the hell of it
