Good shock strut combination.
Ok, I have an 02 v6. With full bolt ons, and windstar upper, ported lower. I also have a 5spd and ford c springs and subframes. I went to the track and had some horrible traction. It is time to upgrade the tires. Also I noticed that my shocks look terrible. So what is a good drag combination for shocks and struts.

Get coilovers , at your power level (or lack of) you really shouldn't be having issues though.

Well other cars were having a lot of problems as well. Could it be that the track was not prepped well?
I know that a lot of the high hp cars even with DRs would just smoke the tires half way down the entire track.

Could have been poor track prep.

Do just normal summer tires work decent on most tracks? Those were what I was running. They were general uhp exclaims.
Also how long are shocks good for? I have heard that ppl change them around 70-90k? My car has 90k on it, but they seem fine, when you jounce it, it settles right out. But they are all rusty on the oustide, but I don't think that it should affect anything.

they last depending on how you ride them, if your rough on them they wont last as long if your easy on them they could last way longer. sometimes you get a combination of a bump+ speed+aturn and snap, anything can happen.

Well, I rarely beat on them. I don't corner too hard. And I know that the previous owners did not. I do a lot of straightline racing.
