If you have another vehicle to transport the exhaust in and means to safely remove the exhaust I would take it off yourself.
Is the bolts on the manifold easy to break.Ive had people tell me that its easy to take off unless you break off one off the bolts. Thanks again.

I know sometimes people have broken them off because they have been screwed in for so long, so they're sort of stuck And i've seen many cases where they've broken off. There's a reason it's expensive at an exhaust shop, that's for the labor and if they screw up some kind of insurance. say they break the bolt off, it's their responsiblity to fix it. For the price they quoted you. And if it's not done right you can take it back and they'll fix it. But they price is sometimes way over the top. and as for your question of "is it the gasket?" it's hard to tell EXACTLY where it's coming from without actually taking it off and inspecting it. And shops charge for that, which adds to the price.

And as for the thing to make the A\C Drip somewhere else, is it just a nipple on the end of the condensor that I can attatch like a hose or something to and divert it? That would be a great fix to keep it from happening again. Because where I live i need cats and LT's replace the cats.

Thanks. The guy at the shop said it would be $250.00 to replace the gasket. He said that if the bolts break or if it ends up being a crack manifold, then where looking at more money.A new manifold at Autozone is $95.00.I just dont want to drop it off there and expect to pay $250.00 and get a call that its now $450.00.Do you know if a cracked manifold can hurt your car?The reason im asking is,if i have time to save up some money and get it fixed.I would love to figure out a way to stop the A/C from dripping on it.Thanks again.

Depending on how bad it is, you have a "LITTLE" time. Because as you probably know there's compression going on with your exhaust, with leaking exhaust from one side it knocks off the compression for those chambers. So in the long run, get it fixed asap. Decreases gas mileage as well. But it can wait a little it wont blow your engine right away, but don't go hot roddin around with it either. The guy at that shop is full of it, not business work for a shop. try to find another place to take it. What you're telling me is a bunch of red flags saying "This shops a shotty shop that's going to take advantage of you"
and yeah, the A\C fix would be nice to keep it from happening again. I've had no problems with my 'stang but the damn A\C was super poor engineering.

I ran my car with the exact same exhaust leak were talking about here, that progressed more for a few months before it got fixed and I drove the car hard. Its mostly just a loss of MPG's and power. I have never heard of someone blowing their engine from an exhaust leak. Like mine was so bad to the point where I was getting a custom exhaust put in before the leak got fixed, the guy cut the Y pipe after the cats and the 2 passenger side cats fell right off with the flange...

Don't pay $250 for a gasket, it's a $12 part for both sides and is not that difficult you need simple hand tools and MAYBE 2 hours if you've never done it.

You'll lose MPG and power from an exhaust leak. Might get some fuel smell in cabin, and over may be detrimental to engine, I wouldn't go too long with a leak.

Its not the gasket though, at least if its because of the a/c. If it is then it has nothing to do with it. Its all the bottom of the manifold and the flange connecting the manifold to the midpipe.

I agree, a cheap gasket shouldnt be that expensive, like i said. but guys i opened up my hood today and started it, boy o boy did i get much more loud. i'm getting worried about my poor car id take it to a shop but now i have to work the rest of the week. it seems to be coming from the top part of the engine not the hbottom half by the manifold.

Also, if anybody knows how to fix the water from the ac from dripping to the exhaust? i don't even know where on earth the water comes from. If someone can enlighten me on this that would be great. cause this problem is a pain in the ass from what i hear.

The exit for the a/c water is on the pass. side of the firewall inside the engine bay. Basically right above the pass. side header to manifold connection.

You can either fit a piece of hose into the hole, or fabricate a shield of sorts from sheet metal or basically whatever you can get to fit in there. Careful with type and length of hose if you go that route, as it gets hot in there and most parts will melt a rubber hose. (Trust me, exp. is master of all knowledge.)

Alright, where I live I need my cats, and LT's rid the exhaust of that. So that's not an option, I've been looking at ceramic headers though. OR just simply replacing it and seeing if I can somehow divert the spicket from the a\c condensor just enough to where it misses the exhaust. If I manage this I'll post a write up on it for you all. I would love long Lt's though, those things sound beast with flow 40's. Haha.

Okay guys, I took it to my local tech school and put it on a lift. They all said they hear something but it's nothing to worry about, and we couldn't find a leak or anything in the exhaust. The best answer we could get was a out of whack lifter or a "wrist pin" ? something.
