Engine tick. Sounds like diesel car? Video inside.

Alright everything is pretty much explained in the video guys. It's hard to hear over my powersteering pump but it's there. When I accelerate it sounds like an exhaust leak type of thing, like a faint ticking. Hasn't gotten worse over the course of three weeks since I noticed it. but here ya go guys

exhaust leak 100%. No question about it, passenger side in the flange itself where the manifold connects to the mid pipe. Do you use your a/c a lot? If so that is why you now have an exhaust leak...

Depends on how far gone it is, I believe you can have it welded though.

Alright I'll take it to the shop tomorrow since I'm off work. And MAKE them look at it instead of asking if they hear anything haha. Why's the A\C compressor have anything to do with my exhaust might I ask? Is it a recall??

I think he means water running onto it and rusting it out. I always have water run down my collector on my passenger side if i use my a/c.

Dang.. I guess I'll fab up some ghetto rigging to keep that from happening. I noticed when I use my A\C and shut my door I hear water sizzling on the exhaust. Guess that's the problem. Shit...

Exactly, mine does that as well. I'd say just get some headers?

If I had the money I would, Maybe the ceramic headers so it wont happen again? Haha, but If I get the metal ones then it will surely happen again sometime down the road

Yea.. I can look into that as well. And the video is so long because I figured it was easier to talk about the problem instead of type a book about it, haha but next time I will for sure.

But you're not the first one to make the observation, my nick name is smokey, and my last name is for real green. Smokey Green.. haha. But ya no worries man. I wasn't high.

I have a 2002 V6 and it has the same noise.I took it to a shop and they said it was the gasket.I dont think its the gasket.I think its a cracked manifold. They want $250.00 to replace the gasket.Would I be better of buying headers.I have a friend that can fix it but he's afraid of one of the bolts breaking off.

Either manifold cracked at weld before first cat or header cracked at flange. Either way on pass. side because of a/c drip as said. Lame engineering on Ford's part. A diverter can be put in to block it, and LT headers don't have the issue because there isn't a weld in the area where the water drops on them. Replacing with diff. shorty headers would probably lead to the same issue.

Cracks can be welded for about $30, my manifold had cracked and completely separated and they were able to weld it up fine.

yes, the exhaust will have to be removed, its only 6 bolts 4 electrical sensors, and very easy to remove. I would search for machine shops, I didn't have mine welded by an exhaust shop...anyone (reputable) with a welder can fix it, and I had mine back to me within 2 hours for $30.

If you have another vehicle to transport the exhaust in and means to safely remove the exhaust I would take it off yourself.

Mine makes the same noise as well. But when i had my passenger side header welded it cost me about 2.75$, and that's because he wanted to be paid in sunflower seeds
