Do I have gears???
I got the car as a gift and there are many upgrades that have already been done. The one thing i can't figure out is if it has upgraded gears. is there any way to do this without opening the differential cover? would a tuner help me?

Jack the car up, put it in neutral and spin your driveshaft by hand until you get one complete rotation out of your wheel.
If it takes 3.27 rotations then they're stock gears. Also you can check to see if you have limited slip similarly, jack both back wheels up and if when you spin one by hand the other spins the opposite direction then you do not have limited slip.

or try this also, tell us what ur driving (auto or stick) and what your rpms are at 70 mph, most people can tell you just by that what your gears are
3.73's w/ auto @ 70mph are just under 2500rpm thats what im driving. |

stock gears are around 2k at 70mph and 2.5k at 80mph, shit thats with auto though, so it should be a little lower rpms with the manual

Just because americanmuscle sells them doesn't mean they aren't stock, they sell lots of direct replacement parts. if I recall correctly 70mph on my manual is 2050rpm with stock gearing.

I have stock 15" rims with stock size tires and stock gears. I turn 2050rpm(or 2150, can't recall atm) at 70mph in 5th gear.
If he's turning 350-450rpm higher than me then those definitely aren't stock gears or he has some really really small tires.
