Cooling fan and AC problems....

I am assuming that my 2 issues are related since they both poppe up at the same time. I was idling at a stop light with my AC on when suddenly the air got hot. Once I got up to speed again (45mph) the air worked again but not nearly as good. Also, the compressor seemed like it was whistling or sickly sounding. At idle it only kicked in fo about 5 seconds at a time.
I was trying to figure out what was going on under the hood when I realized that the cooling fan was not turning on and the engine was overheating. No fuses blown that I can see and all plugs are tight. No CEL either. What does this sound like? Bad coolant temperature sensor? Do the problems seem related?

Does it over heat when the ac is off too?

I figured it out. The fan blade was broke. The rim on the edge broke and the fan quit trying to spin. We reattached it with a little sheet metal and pop rivets but the blade is very sensitive to balance. Anyone know where I can buy just a fan blade?
