torgue converter?

im doing a swap in my 88 TBIRD with an 04 v6. The tranny came from a 97 v6. After pulling the old tranny and engine I ran into a problem. The torque converter doesnt line up.

Around where I live there is only a handful of junkyards. So getting the 2004 tranny is somewhat hard to do. Just a question, whats torque converter do I need and will the fit the trany. thanks.

Which year flexplate are you using?? If the 04 engine come with plate, I have my stock converter in perfect condition I will sell you rather cheap. And it will bolt up.

Explain doesnt line up?? A 97 trans and converter should bolt up to an 04 engine/flexplate.

When we went to bolt it up to the block, there's like a cap looking thing in the center of the torque converter on the side where it would bolt to the block. and its stoping us, from getting the bolts line up. im not sure what kind of flewplate.im assuming stock b.c it came with the engine.

How cheap you talking?

Your tq converter isnt seated fully into the pump gear. What ever you do...do not bolt the trans to engine if the converter isnt seated fully.

$75 plus shiping for my stock converter sound good??
