HELP with (vacuum?) hose before AM please.
So I just got a new exhaust manifold put on by my mechanic (I had to have it done in one day and didn't have a working air compressor or torch so I just brought it somewhere to have it installed.)
So it sounds great, no more ticking. I go out with my friends and I'm driving home at 11:00 ish and my CEL comes on. I pull into the nearest lit parking lot to see if something went wrong and noticed this ![]() The hose connecting the air intake going into the engine (valve covers?) was disconnected. I tried putting it back on but noticed that the end of the hose was a little cracked and a lot of residue was flaking off when I was trying to put it on. It wouldnt stay on by its own or with duct tape so I drove the 15 mins home carefully. I noticed that the car was maybe missing (like when I was going up a hill in 4th at 1300 rpm it felt like I let of the gas for a second and then the engine picked up again, but I didnt move my foot on the pedal) and it did that a couple times. Real question is, what is the name of the hose and how do I fix it? It probably won't stay on when I put my CAI back on (I took it off to seal the extra hole the right way, hence the original intake) Do you guys think a small hose clamp around the end will fix it until I can get to Ford/ Auto Zone to get a new one? (no junk yards around me have mustangs, they only believe in buying hondas and toyotas) And how do I remove the piece from the valve cover, do I just pull and the entire hose and connecting piece will come out? Cliff Notes: Hose in picture came off, car runs like poop and CEL is on. What is the name of it and how do I patch fix it until I get a replacement.

Just drive your car to the local auto store pull that hose off take it in and get a new hose cut to the length. Reattach it.

it's probably a 3/8" hose.

there is supposed to be a little coupler that goes into the hose and the intake that allows them to stay together, the coupler isnt needed with a CAI so you might not have it, the hose isnt meant to stretch over the hole in the intake so that is why it wont go on.

The hose was already cracked from age when I put the CAI in the first time, I just forgot that there was an additional coupler that went with it when I put my original back on, even though the hose went on it it kept slipping off.
