for giggles

I was just wondering how much power do you guys think someone could see with a nasty N/A motor from SSMS... For example how about one with these specs?

4.3 long rod forged
Billet aluminum rods
11:1 compression
230/236 .55/.56 114LSA Cam
P+P heads
Roller rockers
P+P lower
Windstar upper
on pump gas

This is why you have a disclaimer.

And my single turbo lawn mower makes 350 awhp with 93 octane...

A motor like that would prob touch anywhere between 290-320rwhp depending on fuel used.

Wow If someone bought all of the parts from them and built it themselves that would be close to a 5k motor... So not worth it. Although it would be nice.

As long as you're happy with what you have, then it's worth it. Problem is that people get so hung up on the V6 vs. V8 shit that they get the "it's not worth it mentality." If that's the case, why even mod a sixxer at all?

This is the most hostile part of the forum, only trumped by "the burnout box"

Don't get me wrong that would be a nice motor. But the fact is that a Turbo motor, for the same price, would blow it out of the water.

might as well swap in a 4v 4.6, might even be cheaper

Not really. If you added N2O to that list. it would literally be a N/A motor to it's fullest potential.

I just didn't know that these motors N/A limits were that low. It's almost sad... But I guess impressive for six cylinders and two valves.

well any N/A motor is basically limited to its displacement. a 3.8L fully built N/A(even pushrod and 2v) is 99% of the time gonna make more power than a fully built say 2.5L I4 thats N/A. with the right stuff and fully ported it doesnt make a huge difference thats its only 2v.

exactly why the new 3.7L duratecs v6's on the 2011 are almost at the full potential stock, only way to majorly increase power is to go FI. they already have direct injection, DOHC 4v TIVVT, not much porting or camming is gonna do, just like a 4v 4.6

I have actually heard something different. We might be seeing some pretty nasty N/A 2011 sixxers on the roads once people get into modding them.

well with the twin variable stuff and it being 4v, camming the motor isnt going to give you any major gain like it would on a 2v, the cam is already gear'd for high rpm operation i really dont see any reason why porting 4v heads is going to give you major power either. i mean bolt-ons yeah there gonna be quick but as far as the actual engine, i just cant see you adding like 75hp with h/c/i like you could on a 3.8
