I know 8.8's have a tlok in them already, and if your lucky they might have a steeper gear ratio.

yea its just a stronger rear end and can handle more power, and it already has the limited slip differential in it so you can enjoy those nice 2 wheel burnouts.

Yes. Because one other thing you'll notice is an increase in drivetrain loss with the larger/heavier rear diff.

Might as well since it is already off the car figure out what your going to do with it and buy everything together then put it on will save you money.

thats a steal
![]() btw if you get new gears, you need to get a rebuild kit, all the old bearing will be worn to the other gears. And would be smart to get a LSD rebuild kit to. Look on craigs for gears, usually alot cheaper. If you can find some fairly new ones with very little wear, get them. |

definitely do the gears before you put it on the car, might be a good idea to rebuild the traction lock also

Edit: if i was rebuilding a rear end, id throw gears, bearing kit and detroit lockers into it. Last edited by 2000stallion; August 23rd, 2010 at 04:58 PM. |

depends on your power and how you drive it, the stock GT LSD ive heard holds and doesnt hold, but you could put a 7.5 on a cobra and it would hold ... taking it that you dont get on it :p
locker will be good if you plan on putting down power and getting on it when you have that power. but its your car do what you want with it. 8.8 w/ 31 spline (stock should be 28spline in GT??) and detroit locker will be your best bet, FR gears, royal purple or amsoil with an LSD slip lock additive. Just remember that will hold up, but now your weak points are drive shaft, U joints, transy. |
