So I cant get the harmonic balancer mounting bolt to come off...any help? My idiot self removed the belt before I took the bolt off, I dont know if that makes a difference but I can't get the dang thing to come off. I have a 2004 v6 auto btw.

no, I was serious. on most of the pulleys, the thread pattern is reversed because of which way the pulleys spin ( dont want a pulley flying off). It WILL come off, I promise. Just keep at it. If you have an air gun, it will come right off. If not, get some white lithium grease and let it sit there for like an hour and try again.

I didn't have to deal with a harmonic balancer, but still. It may help if you get a buddy to hold the pulley in place, and try that way, and if that doesn't help. Throw the belt back on. It helps more than you think. What I did was loosen all the bolts first, and then took the belt off. Try that. If that doesn't work let me know.

also, just so you know. That is going to be the HARDEST thing to remove. The bolt that is in there has gone through SO MANY temperature changes, that it is practically "welded" in there. Just be careful not to sheer it off. Then you would be

oh btw, when you say opposite direction, do you mean that I go to the right as I'm looking at the car or to the left? I assumed that you meant to go right as Im looking at the car from the front.

thatll work. You could also use a breaker bar if you want. If your going to get an impact gun you need an air compressor.

When your looking at the car, turn the wrench to the RIGHT (like your tightening it). It's a reversed thread, so, its opposite from every other bolt. With other bolts, you turn the wrench to socket to the left to undo it. With this, you turn the socket to the right to undo it.
