Getting very worried.
Sorry for the long post in advanced, but please read and offer advice if you can.The other day I made a post about oil mixing with my coolant. Took it to a trusty mechanic who said he did some tests and everything came back clean, and he does not think it is the head gasket as was suggested. I remember when he showed me the new coolant the level was very high. When I got home I saw it was lower, but it was about the height of the full cool mark , so I figured that would be the end of this. I took the car down to Florida, and about 3/4 of the way there I decided to check out the coolant. It was still even after running the car for hours of 75mph driving at the full cool mark. I thought it was suppose to be at the hot full mark. Now here is what is getting me worried. My service engine soon light popped up. This happened last week and I saw that the guy who pumped my gas in nj (where you can not pump your own gas) did not put the gas cap on properly. I attributed it to that and disconnected the battery for a few min and the light went away. Now I dont know what to think. I also have had a few times the lights for my odometer not turn on and then suddenly come back, so I want to hope that it is just a computer glitch and not a major mechanical problem. The car is not overheating or driving odd in any way, except for a little vibrating noise when the car is driven between 58-62mph, over or under and I hear nothing. If there was a problem with coolant or the headgasket, or something mechanical that made the check engine light come on, shouldn't I feel it? I still need to get my car to Florida and hope that nothing serious happens as I don't know any mechanics in the area I am in.
Thanks |

If that light hasn't come back on then chill.... The odometer is just something that happens to a lot of our cars with age.

Sorry if I did not make it clear, the light I was able to turn off last week, but it came on today while driving my car to Florida, after about 700 miles of driving. The Car does not overheat and like stated before seems fine, not pulling or struggling in anyway. I am going to go to an autozone as soon as I can and see if they can pull the code, and also go to a mechanic so he can look at the coolant level and let me know if he thinks its low. I really do not how to determine if the levels are proper or not simply because the car is not overheating.

I'm sorry I must have misread it.
If you are going to be going to a mechanic then forget Autozone. Typically the know very little about what they are actually looking at. Just have the Mechanic look at it.

The variation in coolant levels sounds normal. There was some air in the system and it has worked it's way out and now the radiator refilled from the overflow bottle.
The check engine light is probably unrelated. See what the code says. |

I wouldn't worry with those symptoms. I would try cleaning the battery terminals just to rule out / help with an electrical issue. Maybe check the ecu ground wire too.
