Well it rained pretty bad and my car isnt in the shop yet...

Well I have had some setbacks with the warranty company about getting my car fixed. And right now my car is being held up by one of its own wheels under it, sad I know I hate seeing it like this personally.

But its been raining the last couple days and my 1 week old rotor is rusty as shit! What can I put on it to get rid of as much as possible? I know brake cleaner is tough shit and can eat through car paint with ease. But can I just put a bunch of my rotor and scrub some rust off? Or is this going to take a lot of sanding down?

they rust all the time, especially in car lots after not being driven, unless it is hard coated in rust it should come off after a small amount of brake use.

Just using the brakes should take it off. They get a lot of surface rust from sitting

If it somehow gets really rusty you might need to get it turned, but I doubt that

Eh alright, I just noticed it today because I am trying not to look at my car in this situation. It sucks. I hate waiting to see what my warranty company will let me use for shops and then finding a shop that will work with them. BUT on the bright side I just found out i have a $0 deductible

Its long so I will type everything out and add cliff notes lol....

I was driving back from a delivery Friday night around 9pm (I deliver chinese food), decided to take the back roads back (I ALWAYS take the highway) but decided to take the slow way because I was tired that day. Was just minding my own business going about 30mph and I heard a loud pop and my front passenger side of the stang dropped. I figured I just blew out a tire so I instantly stopped and got out and popped my trunk to get my jack. With my jack in hand I went to the tire and noticed my tire was fine and it didn't lose any air at all. So now I knew it was a bigger problem obviously. My car war about .5" from the wheel.

Called up AAA for a tow because there was no way in hell I was driving 10 miles back like this and I couldn't see exactly what happened because my car was so lowered and since I didnt know if something would fall off from jacking it up I didn't and just let it sit.

AAA got there in about an hour from me calling them (don't blame them I was on a very dark back road a good distance from a major used street) the guy gets out of his tow truck and sees me with jack in hand and says "Need help changing a tire?" I just laughed and told him no its in my suspension. He gets on his stomach and takes a look with his flashlight and told me I blew out my lower ball joint, and it looked like it came off with a lot of force causing my control arm to wedge itself in my rim.

He saw my work shirt and knew exactly where I worked and said "Don't you take the highway back? Your pretty far from there, were you on a delivery" I told him yea and I always do take the highway back because of the distance but I decided not to because I was tired and just wanted to chill and cruise back. His next words exactly were "That was probably the best decision of your life, if you were on the highway and this happened the control arm went in your rim deep enough where it would have made you come at a dead stop, and that happening going at least 65mph would have definatley flipped your car." Now first of all I always am going 75-80 on the highway and all of you know if I flipped in the vert going that fast I probably wouldnt be here to type this out, or I would be in a wheel chair for the rest of my life.

CLIFFNOTES:
Blew lower ball joint while driving back from a delivery
Caused control arm to jam in my rim
Took 3 hours total to tow the car
Would have died if I was on the highway because the car would have flipped
I am lucky as hell apparently
Waiting on warranty company to get back to me about a few small details on getting repairs
Thank got everything is covered.

The pics I took are bigger, but TOO big lol. So imageshack resized them I will reupload for you guys without resizing. And I can't afford bigger rims thats why I was going to paint them black chrome . They would at least look better until I can afford better ones.

Oh me too lol. Its just I was going through my warranty. And it says that it wouldnt be covered if the mechanic told them it was from normal wear and tear. But how would they tell? Plus I didnt have any squeaking or anything before hand. It just happened.

That isn't wear and tear.. That is total part failure to the max.
If they didn't cover that I would be pissed

Me too! I got a couple clauses to get out of though. I just found out if the ford timeline for part replacement called for the part to be replaced before it happened then I am not covered. But I know it says to CHECK them at 95kmiles which I just hit right before they failed. Doesn't say to replace them, and I did check them out and they seemed fine didn't squeak at all. So it should be covered fully. I would be livid if it didnt get covered. Plus I have a $0 deductible. Its all in a matter of the shop saying it failed from normal wear and tear or not. But I would imagine its kind of hard to tell right?

idk. Did you check side to side movement? (not the swivel movement) Or the up and down movement? Those are to see if there was any slack in the joint. Slack could lead to that happening.

They seemed tight to me. Just wondering since it already failed if theres a way to tell why exactly. I would think since its already failed the shop would just say its parts failure because what they are looking at is a failed part.... Is there a way to tell if they were bad even though its already failed?

Yea plus, I am sure since the place would want money and know they can upcharge because its warranty work (I am sure 99% of places charge more if they are dealing with warranties) and I said "Make sure you don't tell them its from normal wear and tear" they wouldn't have a problem doing so lol.
