Help With Windstar Install
Hey, I am just installing my VAP windstar kit now and im not sure if its because im super tired or if im just completely missing something. I cannot seem to get the intake to clear the coolant tube thing.
Maybe im missing somehting you guys can see. I cut it down as far as possible and bent it out as far as i could. Does anyone have pics of how they bent it? im going to resume in the morning ![]() ![]() ![]()

You see how yours is tilted forward and almost straight up and down.. I have mine tilted to the back and to the right.

Resting for the night is a good idea, possibly tomorrow make you realize a solution. There's many times that's happened to me haha. Anyway, nice swap. Those things look great under the hood.

I'm not sure where you're supposed to push it, but mine works. I don't have any pics of that. I can try to get some when I get up tomorrow.

Screw the tube. Cut it off and use a T to connect the 3 lines. Sooo much easier. I'll take pics of mine later.

I would've taken a picture but I can't find my camera
<EDIT> found one that might help some. If you look to the left of the TB and right behind the TB arm/spring you can see the vent cap for the coolant tube. ![]() Here if you look beside the TB you can kind of get in idea of how it is positioned. ![]() I know it all looks like a mess.

I'm planning to get this same kit this month. How hard was the install over all? I'm asking because I don't have a lot of mechanical experience and don't want to get in over my head.

As long as you buy the whole kit from him it will be easy... The only problem that I ran into was that I had to clean up the threads in the coolant tube that was cut.

Ok, i have more questions:
where does this thing go? ![]() it was plugged into here on the stock intake ![]() i deleted the EGR so do i need this little 'T" in there or should it be one line? (drivers PCV to the intake) ![]() there is no hole in the air intake tube for this sensor (only 99-00 have them) ![]() ![]() it says something about using the stock hard PCV tube for these lines, do they connect to each other? ![]() and what about this line, it comes up from where the fuel line is ![]() and should i just cut this long tube down to fit snug? ![]() (the one on the left going into the air intake pipe) and can i just zip tie the throttle cable a bit so its not sticking up so far? it almost seems too long ![]() here is where im at now

Ok this is alot at once but i'll try. I'll number everything in order.
1. The one that you took off the old intake take it off of the TEE... You got 3 1/4 hoses connected by a TEE one goes to the fuel rail, one to the manifold, one goes behind the manifold and connects to the now open TEE. 2. It should just be one line 3. Sounds like you got hooked up with the wrong intake pipe. You need one with port for that. That is your Intake Air Temperature sensor. It is a necessary sensor.... When you go to plug it in make sure that the passing air can hit the sensor in middle. 4.The hard 90 of the stock pcv goes on the port on top of the manifold. Look up in my pic you can see it. 5. That was hooked up to another hose at first right? In between them they were connected with a hard piece of plastic (kinda like a TEE but with only two sides, and it's straight) use that hard part to connect that line to the one that you routed underneath the intake from the top port. 6.Don't trim anything til it is all complete. Then trim it, but of course leave some slack. 7. The mount that came off the old intake looks like it is still on the cables (that's good). Use that mount to mount the cables to the two slots on the coil pack adapter plate... One of the last things to do before you're done is to adjust that mount (so just make it snug for now). You are going to want to pull the mount back so that the cables are taught against the TB arm, but the TB is fully closed (this is to insure that there is no slack) 8.Half way there just keep up the good work. -_- this was all strictly from memory. I just did this mod not long ago so I "should" be right about it all. If I was right, then <--- hit that rep button.

Take your 90 degree cap off your PCV and put it up top for a cleaner look

You need the PCV, but the tube, no. As long as you can get a hose to fit it.
I recommend keeping everything that you don't think you need for awhile after, that way you make sure that you won't need it. You never know, sometimes you run into problems that make you change things.
