power steering

I believe mine is leaking out of the cap? Could this be true if maybe the gasket on the cap is bad?

You think or it is? Clean it up good and see if it actually is leaking. Make sure that its not overfilled. Make sure there are no cracks in the resevoir near the cap, and the cap itself, you'd be able to see a crack or hole in the gasket which is really I don't know how much of a gasket really.

And then if it is get a new cap from Ford.

It shouldnt be filled right to the cap anyways, right?

I'd check what goren said. The cap might not be making a good seal, clean around it if its dirty and put the cap on nice and tight. Did you overfill the fluid at all?

Just a question here guys. Sorry for thread jacking.

My power steering pump reservoir cap doesn't lock in. It just kind of... Sits there? When I turn it to lock it on i can pull it off again like it didn't lock, I thought this was normal. Is it? Just curious haha.

I have no clue honestly where it is leaking from, there is always power steering gluid on top of the cap, and all over the resevoir everytime it leaks, and it is completely empty and starts whining

Replace resevoir and cap I say. Should come together. And again, make sure you're not overfilling, but does sound like its got a crack and is leaking.

Clean it. Make it very clean. Then fill it, but make sure to not overfill it. Then check it daily til it's dirty again and try to determine where it's coming from.

Errgh.. Lol. I wonder if there's an aftermarket cap somewhere that will lock. Cause mine just spins and spins and spins, to nothing. Can pull it right off again.

On mine i just push it down and turn it alittle and it locks in and to take it off you just turn it counterclockwise. Mine just has a little plastic piece that locks it in.

Normally if LMR doesn't have something it'll be hard to find online, I'd contact Ford about the reservoir.

...I had to go check my car, and I was wrong, the PS cap does "lock". Wooops been awhile since I opened it.

could it be just the pump giving out, and using power steering fluid like crazy?

Why would there be fluid on the outside of the resevoir if that were the casE?
