A/C is throwing my idle all over the place??
My car runs fine when the AC is off but as soon as I turn it on it either revs up to about 2k rpm or drops down to 400/500
I found my vacuum leak and plugged it so it's not that.. Any suggestions?

sounds like a common problem people get after the windstar. I have no way of proving this, but I see it as the computer bumping up the rpms to keep them from dropping with the pressure from the A/C being turned on.

Its the A/C idle adjustment solenoid it is what raises the idle when the compressor is on.
btw where did you get the black grill thinking about swapping them out

I don't think its the windstar, as plenty of Stangs have the issue stock.

I've had the same issue with mine since I bought it. I've just learned to leave it off and keep the windows down, and I actually prefer it that way now.
If the idle was screwy with the a/c both off and on, I would agree. But since it's only with the a/c on then I'm going to have to disagree. A/c is belt driven so it has nothing to do with the IAC.

The IAC has alot to do with the A/C during idle. When you turn on the a/c and the compressor kicks on, it adds extra load to the engine. In order to keep the RPM's up the engine needs a little more power, so it opens the IAC to let some extra air in.

Alright you got me there but I still highly doubt the IAC is the main source of the problem. If it was bad you'd have idle problems all the time.

(I'm not saying that the problem is the IAC but..) The IAC could be working just well enough to control idle at normal idle, but freak out under the pretty hefty load that the A/C causes.

if there is a idle issue on a mustang... 9 times out of 10 it is the IAC... just throwing that out there.
and the reason I said that is because the first response to the guys question somebody said "AIC" which isnt a real part lol (that I know of at least lol)
