Alright, once and for all is this the truth or a myth?

That gutting all 4 cats on a 99% stock v6 makes you lose power. Myth? Truth? Both? This is the only thing from keeping me from going catless and I can't find a clear cut answer I hear it does make you lose a decent amount of power/torque and I hear it doesn't really change anything except for sound. So which is it? If it does cause you to lose a little power/torque would it be as much of a difference to say change my et's at the track? Or would it make me lose a little low end and gain a little high end? I have also heard this before. Thanks all.

You'll loose your inspection stick in MA unless you know someone that owns an inspection station (or just punch the inside of the cats out and go to a station where they only test tires and horns

)

I got a buddy that has a station, they HAVE a "sniffer" (the thing that goes behind your tail pipes) but they don't use it, they just plug the cars in to their machine via ODBII of course and go from there. I am guessing just looking for no cat codes? and other emissions codes. I was just going to run "test pipes" as in hollow out the cat casings and just run a pipe through them so it would still appear that I have cats just incase I got pulled over and the cop says "Sounds like you don't have any cats" "Why don't you take a look officer they are right there, its just aftermarket mufflers....."

We got 2 small ones right after the headers then 2 larger ones that are right at the beginning of the tail pipes before the mufflers.

What about the bigger ones? Sounds like you have recycled some cats, and I was trying to figure out the approach to take with my old cats when I gut them.
