Motor Question


Hey i got a question for ay guy.....My brother needs a motor for a 1994 Mustang 3.8. My question is does he have to get a 1994 motor or can it another year? Thanks

94-98 (these are the single port 3.8's) the motors changed to split port's in 99.

so the engines from all thos years are the same, like no problems pullin the busted one and dropping a new one?

94-98 is same motor just better cam in 98. he could do a split port swap and get 50 more hp by buying a 99-04 3.8L motor and swaping it in.

when you say new motor, do you mean the used longblock including upper and lower intakes... there are some differenances between 94-95 and 96-98 with the intake and head bolt lengths and gasket thicknesses... also the 94-95 have an ignition control module under the MAF housing.

Technically it will be a direct swap if you use a 94-95 if your use a 96-98 there will be little changes but not show stopping, if possible try and get the 96-98 w/the wiring harness. If you do swap the motor go ahead and do the head gaskets too, specifically for the 94-95's.
