Castrol 10W 30 is good stuff. I have always ran Amsoil full synthetic in my off-road cars but the needs are a little different. Bsically mfg's will usually recommend a 10W 30.

car requires either 5w20 or 5w30... not 10w30. i've always stuck with mobil1 synthetic, i was a tech at on oil change for over 4 years.. all the oil i've been around i'd recommend mobil1! don't forget the mobil1 oil filter...

Oil change people must be less informed in Texas. They all use 10W30 almost exclusivley. I use Amsoil full synthetics anyways, not because I am a technician just because.

Just stay with what has been run in it. They’re several different blends of oil. But if you haven't been using a sync don't start now. Pennzoil and Castro, generally Penn. crude are paraffin based oils and you should not change to those either if you haven't been running them. The high mileage stuff is good. 5/30 is good all round.

well the manual says to use 5w30....but then the haynes repair manual i bought says i can use 10w30 based on my climate since it doesnt get below 32 degrees down here

i just went with mobil1 5w30 full syn and a k&n oil filter....

but does the mileage affect what oil weight to use?

anybody that runs pennzoil is an r-tard. that is the worst stuff ever. i have taken many valve covers off of pennzoil motors to be covered in sludge on the valves. please dont use. id rather use used trop-artic oil than that. i like motorcraft pure synthetic 10W30. it works.

Royal Purple..... If your motor is worthy to flow Royal blood...lol..

I have a Mustang mag where they replaced all the oils, motor, trans and rear end with Royal Purple and they gained a constant 8hp gain...

Yeah but you can go 5-6000 miles between changes if you like.. As long as you use a good filter..

Thats just it. I was reading a magazine that we get at our shop. they did a filter test. They were talking about people going over 3,000 miles on oil changes. They were saying that its not that some of the oils cant handle it. Its the oil filter, they cut open hundreds of filters all with differant variables. And I dont believe there was 1 filter in the bunch that worked efficiently past the 3,000 mile mark. I think this is one thing ppl over look is how efficient is the oil filters. People always ask me, how does that oil look. And I give them this how fuckin stupid are you look. Its burnt motor oil how the hell do you think it looks. ITS BLACK! They are always worried their oil cant hold up. When most oils will.

Well change the filter at 3k then top off the oil.. Simple as that..

Did they give you a reason? The only thing I can think of is if you start to use them in older higher mileage motors they have been known to start an oil leak or two but other than that the lubrication properties far surpass regular oil and it does not break down as fast as regular oil.
