A windstar will hold 15-20psi no problem. I've stood on them with out it cracking or any issues.
well I did some research and came up with 15psi. max

NOT a big deal, it just bug's me. If the link I put up works, it shows what I'm talking about. I like the look of the twins with this set up. If the upper intake feeds from the center would be nice. sms now makes a new upper that feeds in the center front of the motor. but it's $$$

TMA Twin Race KIT

Your talking about a 10,000+ plus build and worried about an intake ?

I know what search you did. And the answer is and has never been proven. I will buy you a SSX3 intake if you blow up a windstar intake at 20psi.
I bet the windstar could handle 25psi with out issue!

You know how little 15lbs of pressure is? especially for it to crack an intake manifold? You think Ford would put that on their product that see's tons of heat and hopes for 100,000+mile usage....
That intake is rather strong. I weigh 150lbs and stood on top of the intake manifold with out it budging. You honestly believe 16psi is going to be its breaking point?

Well us fools and our money. 10,000 I can live with 11,625

Do you have any input about the windstar, and how much boost it can take?

Easy $10k build
$1,500 rear end
$3,000 short block
$3000 heads, cam, valve-train and lower
$2500+ trans and acc
$2000-3000 in turbo acc and piping if he does it himself
$600 fuel system at LEAST

we're over $10k and we didnt even touch a single other acc, misc parts, tuning, wheels and tires, and the million other parts needed. this is all assuming he does the work himself including the motor build.

lol my word is not enough? I think me and him have the same level of experience and knowledge. I'am only trying to help. With any car wether it be a V6, GT, LS1 etc running what you'd like to run correctly is going to take time and money. usually the same amount of money

The windstar is not FI manifold. I do know something about pounds per square inch. I work with it and around it all day. And seen the damage and destruction it can do.

Just to let you know...

At least 2 cars are making 500 hp on the windstar, one was an 16-18psi vortech car with a 100 shot of nitrous. Windstar hasn't been destroyed yet.

Whoa hold on I'm not trying to bash the windstar. Hell I'm cheeking the junkyards for one. I just wanted to hear what good and bad you heard.

yes for one that'll handle the power he wants
$500 detriot tru trac
$300 axles
8.8 housing used $200...its rather hard to find a 99-04 8.8..so $200 is rather NICE pricing.
Fluids $50
Ring and pinion $200
$100 full bearing and shim kit+gaskets
Girdle for the rear-$150
still need to modify or weld the housing and tubes. Also a brace is a good idea for his application
Instalation...unless he has the tools and know how for pinion depth, bearing load, back lash and a dial torque gauge.

If you cannot find a used rear end the price on a new one is through the roof.
buying a built 8.8 rear through DTS is about $1500-2000

If you are still afraid of the composite upper, The 4.2L v6 upper is the same design but made of aluminum. (or whatever metal it is)

What builders? and what builds have they done to be completely wrong?
I know NO ONE in the Ford V6 market told you such thing.

It's a taller intake manifold and requires more modifications as well.

Thanks v6kid
It looks like I pissed some members off with that 15psi max
The windstar is a good mod. I like the way it looks the weight saving. I was just trying to find as much info, before I bolt one on top of my motor lol.

Lol, sounds like they are just trying to make a sale.

ESG642T is a nice knowledgeable guy.

Noseup seems knowledgeable, but it seems that his name is a reflection on his personality.
