You most likely can do it yourself...but you'll need a torque wrench along with all the other wrenches/ socket wrenches to finish the job. Definately don't want to strip the threads. I've seen idiots overtighten their drain plug and then they had to replace their oil pan like you. If you have little/no knowlege about cars or repairs...take it to the professionals. It will cost some $$$, but at least if they screw it up...you have some sort of labor warranty to get it taken care of.

How long do you think it would take to install the oil pan? Also the hole is pretty small, could it be welded?? If not, whre would you reccomend to buy a new oil pan?

Are there any step by step guides to replacing an oil pan or is it pretty simple?

The procedure looks complicated.

To get clearance the engine has to be unhooked from the mounts and lifted up as well as one of the cross members needs to be lowered. After there is clearance it's just a matter of removing a lot of small bolts. There is a seal at one end and the rest of the oil pan is sealed with RTV.

As mentioned above torque the oil pan bolts to specs, probably a bit under 10 ft lbs but check to be sure.

I would try to get a good used one.

Yea i actually spoke with a mechanic today, and he gave me some adhesive compound that he said he has used to fix this problem in the past, so i applied it today, and in 24 hours when it is done drying, i will see how it works.

the pump will be a prick too if i remember correctly when u pull the pan u have to unbolt the pump too i use an elastic to hold the pumps driving shaft in place so u dont have to fumble with it.
