I have some 4.2L questions.

This wouldnt pertain to those who bought a whole new block, really...

...but if anyone kept their 3.8L block and bought a stroker kit, did you have to buy larger fuel injectors? Or think it was a good idea to do so?

Anything else needed to be "upgraded" as well?

Thanx guys.

you dont really need to get new injectors, but i would suggest it. I just bought the whole crate engine, lol. Nothing else really needs to be upgraded except your rear (gears and t-lok).

no problem at all. It is also cheaper to get a new engine with 0 miles on it then it is to stroke your current one out.. FYI

I have indeed started researching that. I saw on that other thread you posted on, where you bought the crate engine and posted the site for it. Not bad at all, an extra 400 bucks and i can buy a whole brand new engine with no wear and tear in it, aside from the 1500 from just buying the crank and forged internals from SuperSix to stroke what I already got. Then again, if I decide to go that route, I may need another month or so to set aside $$ to pay for that and shipping costs. Though it seems very very tempting, and I like the idea. Very very much. It just seems ike a drag, I didnt wanna have to swap all the bolt ons. But eh, seems alot simpler when I think about it.

I kept my 7.5. I would understand your point of view if you would think going 8.8 would be the better idea, though. Yet, Im going to stick with what I have now.

Its well worth the extra 400. UNLESS your just looking for a learning experience...Then I would say to buy the stroker kit and go at it...But, its also a learning experience to swap an engine....I would go with the crate engine to be honest with ya man. And, if you look at the other post, you can get the shipping for free if you ask them...

Well with goin to a 4.2L and the more power, you will really want to consider going to an 8.8" if you plan on building the motor up even more. You can kill those spider gears easily with a modded 4.2L.

i'd find it fun personally to swap bolt ons on a engine outside of the car, where its MUCH easier and just have fun doing it.

its your call though, it is your car. good luck with it

Thank you. And yea, completely understandable. One thing I have to keep in mind that I havent bought anything just yet. Whos to say I dont have another idea for the car tomorrow? Basically, whatever happens, happens. Im not in any rush for any of this to happen. I DO however, would like to get as much experiance by reading other peoples feedback and buy everything now, so that once Im home and ready to move on with the next step in life, I have everything already in front of me. I can just concentrate on installing everything. Besides, Im only 20 years old. I still have 2 years of military term to finish. I have alot of life ahead of me.

Very true. I have been looking around for one, as well. Just hasnt been as high as a priority as the engine stuff I wanna get done, ya know? In due time. Itll come. I havent forgotten about the idea.

Good, cuz I don't wanna see a post that says "Where can I get a 8.8" rear end" and inside the post say "because I broke my 7.5"."

Can anyone tell me how big the fuel injectors are on stock vehicles? Preferably on a V6 and a GT Mustang of my bodystyle.
