More problems
OK I was driving today and my car started down shifting and up shifting between third and second really fast, so I gave it alittle gas then it did ok for about 100 yds and then gauges went crazy, lost powersteering, and all power my gauges all read 0 and all my lights came on. Pulled over turned the car off. Restarted it started just fine checked the exhaust no coolant, water, or smoke. looked at the engine no smoke or liquid anywhere drove the rest of the night fine. Anyone got any ideas if it was just a hiccup in the system or something my cracked manifold could cause?

well the alt wouldn't lose power I would just die when my battery ran down. Anyone think maybe my tune didn't load properly last time I tuned?

well just the idea of losing power steering only happens when the car shuts off and all the guages reading zero does the same thing. so it was still running when all this crap happened eh. yeah i dunno then shit went mysteriously wrong.

My guess is, whatever you did to the transmission tune-wise is what did it. If you tuned your shifting to a certain degree, and then it started to go weirdo-psycho on you, then you may have accidently miscalculated something in the tune. I mean, shifting problems was the first sign of something being wrong, correct? The car wanted to shift gears the way it was programmed to, but you decided to correct it by giving it more gas and the car probably couldnt handle that. So it just turned off. Very unlikely that the manifold did it.
...unless, enough heat is coming out of the leak to have melted something?

Why did the power steering die? This is belt driven. The engine was at very low rpm to almost dead. Some problem with the computer or program, I would say program. The tune you have is not right reload and see if it ok.

problem
it could be a number of loose wires possably a wiring harness going bad, i had the same problem i just shut it off and started it back up and it never happened again the same thing happened to my freind in his jetta and it ened up in MEF(mass electrical failure) which means new computer new wiring harness new almost everthng in the car thats electrical but ive never seen that problem with stangs, but if your wiring harness is shorting out it will fuck up everything including gauges and all, your best bet is whenever it happens just pull over immediatly and shut it off, let it sit for a minute then turn it back on to avoid serious damage, my cousing knows alot about this stuff ill ask him but to me it seems like an computer problem or something else electrical, maybe your computer chip was acting up.

Quit
Breaking Shit ![]() Ok.. on the serious side, I would flash the computer back to stock, then re-flash your tune in... See if that helps anything. I would NOT just leave things and HOPE it never happens again..... I would also recommend checking ALL your harness connections going into the ECM and other computer sensors as well. While there are certain sensors that will still allow things to function when they go bad, it never hurts to double-check the connections on them as well. |

Well thats why i gave it gas my shift point from second to third is 50, and I was at 50 when it went into the crazy shift pattern, so I sped up, but then it started shifting down at around 59-61 and that isn't a shift point. So I am just going to return to stock then retune, but I haven't had a problem yet.
