Supercharger ?'s
I'm new to the whole supercharger ideal, so bear with me.
I've gotten this idea to supercharge my v6, do I need purchase forged pistons so I don't risk detonation? Also, If i keep it around 6 psi I was told it would be fine. Now, I'm not one to take chances as this car is also my daily driver. Will I need to tune the computer to make up for the new manifold? Be easy on me. |

1. I don't think pistons have much to do with detonation. Timing, fuel, and compression (i know pistons can determine compression) do I believe . Could be wrong, still learning.
2. At 6 psi, you shouldn't need forged internals 3. You will need a tune. Which supercharger are you talking about? |

Well I don't think vortech makes kits for our cars anymore so you would have to find a used one. The m112 is pretty good for around 250-300hp without some major work and then there's also the procharger kits.

Craigslist, you just have to be smart about what you buy... You can meet up and check out whatever your getting.

turbos and superchargers basically do they same thing, they compress the air flow in to your engine. the difference is, turbos are MUCH more efficient, as they use the exhaust from your car, instead of parasitically robbing power to make power from your pulley system. plus, a BOV sounds sooo much better than a SC whine IMO... i think you should youtube some turbo mustangs and see if that doesnt change your mind.

I've researched both superchargers and turbochargers and it can get rather pricey. 2-2500 bucks. For that, I can buy a low miles 5.0 or 4.6 and put it in myself. Transmission excluded. So what would be the better optiion in the forums opinion? |
