Garret turbo

Well the guy that was suppose to sell me the 55mm turbo finally contacted me through another forum. He asked $150 for the 55mm turbo itself. Is that a good price? My sister's boyfriend said thats pretty low for that kind of turbo. What do you think??

what else is with it? Intercooler? BOV? Wastegate? Everything included $150 is an awesome deal. If it's just a turbo you're going to have to buy your hardware, tubing, all o the above.

Just be weary when buying used performance parts.

Just the turbo. I have to buy everything else separate. How do i check if the turbo is still good?

And how do I move this thread?

Check for shaft play

Axial (side to side) check for freeplay/loose shaft: Radial (up and down) check for freeplay/ wear mark or scaring on the housing caused by the turbine/compressor fins.

I'll check it. If any problems, would I be able to fix it?

good deal. If your sisters bf knows alot about cars/turbos. Take him with you. Honestly, its not going to be easy to piece together a kit if all you have it a BOV and the turbo its self.

He does know a lot more than me. I'll probably take them both whenever he gets out of work. My sis is having fun with our car talk.
And i'm getting everything ready before installing the turbo. I just need the wastegate and probably get the intercooler from AM but im still searching around. Besides I think I have a year left before my warranty expires so I have enough time to work on my knowledge

If it is in fact a Garrett and in good shape, then yes $150 is a pretty damn good deal.
