i put cobra brakes and they rattle why?

so i put them on myself Im not new to this done brakes before many many times. And they work GREAT its like night and day between these and the factory 6xers. but when i hit bumps or ruff roads they rattle when i engage the brakes the rattle goes away. I would say its unsafe cause they been on for 3 months and functions perfectly just really really anoiying. i cant figure it out. only thing i thought of is that these where off my buddys cobra up north and he sent them down to me for free (ya saved me a lot of money) but maybe i didnt get all the pieces. like i cant remember if they came with those metal clips that a lot of breaks have around there pads. If i didnt put those on would they make the rattling noise or could i even have instaulled them at all without the clips. anyhoo thats my best guess any suggestions are very welcome

Check to see if any of your bolts have backed out. I've had a few bolts back on (once on my driver side strut and once on my passenger caliper). Aside from that, about all I could think would be possibly the clips you mentioned.

i did my breaks about a month ago, i had to replace my calipers and i forgot to take my anti-rattle/anti-chatter clips, (whatever they are called again) of one of them before taking it back for my core charge, and made a horrible sound that i thought my wheel was going to fall off. I know on mine it clipped in on the top of the caliper. maybe yours fell off? I got new ones from advanced auto for like 20 bucks.

CHeck the clips. I had the same issue when I had my Cobra. $15 fix. Does it sound like a clank to when you step on the pedal while in motion?

They look different than any othe clips vie had on my other cars hopefully they ordered the right part for me. They look like little "C" shaped clips is that correct. I'll try and figure out how they go on and see if they are them

How much torque did you use on the bolts?

Everthing is tight nothing is loose it's deffinatley the clips I just don't know what they look like for the cobra. Usually most cars they clip around the whole pad but these that came are about the size of a dime. They couldn't find the exact name for the part I was looking for at advance auto so we just ordered the brake hardware kit

+1 for the clips. When I put pads on my old Cobra I had the exact same issue when I forgot to put them on.

Ok so I took caliper off and I remember how this is set up now and the parts I got are not it. I thought the pads needed a spring but the pads on cobras are pressed into the caliper so it's not the pads that are rattling it's the whole caliper. See the cobra calipers are a floating system meaning they are Not bolted to hub. They are held in place by a single pin. Any one who has cobra brakes will know what I'm talking about.

NOW my question is is there a leaf spring to put tension on the whole caliper or does the bracket your caliper attaches to get worn out and needs replaced or could cheap pads that don't fit 100% be the prob? There is just like 1/16" gap very small but it's still loud on bumpy roads

No the bracket the caliper sits in does NOT get worn out.
If you get brand new brake pads (didn't mention if you did or are using used pads) they should come with the "anti-rattle" clips. There are no springs on the Cobra brakes. When the caliper seats into the bracket, make sure that your pin has a washer and an e-clip. I'll try to post up a close-up picture of my spare 10th Anniversary Cobra caliper so that you can see the clip.

The anti-rattle clip is positioned just below the head of the Pin. In my picture, the clip is not properly pressed in all the way because the pads are spaced apart with a plastic spacer that is installed when the calipers are built and pads installed at the factory. Of course, the plastic spacer spreading the pads will be removed when the caliper is installed and the outer pad will be positioned normally within the lower bracket where the anti-rattle clip will be properly seated.
