the first # is the width of the tire and the second # is the height of the sidewall in relation to the width...I was assuming the rims were the same size since a 255 can fit a 8in rim

im telling yall... i know a bit about tire sizes... i did a shit ton of research before i bought my rims and tires...

the first one is the width of the tire... im milimeters
the second is the side wall height if i remember correct
third is the rubber rating type... based on standards set by testers... on yours it is the z in front of the r
the 18 following the r is the rim size
and then the last set of numbers and letters is more official rating information... if you care to find out more i can post links...

you have 18x8's up front and 18x9's out back

So then, does that mean my rims ARE different sizes from the front and back, or just the tires....

well your tires are for sure different widths... and if this girl spent as much money as you are claiming she claimed then their is a good chance they are different size rims to... which is most logical in my mind... but they have a chance of being the same sized rims

Well, judging from what I've seen on this thing, they DID spend a few bux on it, but I bought the car from a GM dealership here locally... they accidentally left a photocopy of ownership in glovebox and I went to their house and left them a note in the door asking them to call me so I could ask them a few questions about what they've done to it, but so far no one has called. It IS a holiday weekend here though, so....
If they would call me I'd at least have some sort of clue lol....

Onemanzu: I never said I was sure the rims were the same width, I was assuming they are 8 in wide because a 225 and a 255 would bot fit an 8in wide rim...I could be wring though

Oh for sure. I know what you're saying. I was more interested for the sake of the car so I can take care of it the way they have been. I mean, it was a 2002, had 55 000 KMs on it, never driven in the winter time, they were serious about taking care of it. I just wanted to know if there was any words of wisdom they could give me so that I can enjoy her as much as they did.
Maybe it s because my career is customer/public service oriented I go beyond on lots a few occasions...
But hey, if you don't ask you'll never ever know, right?

I'm also a biker. And in OUR community, we're very helpful and friendly and eager to share two cents worth of info. Maybe sometimes I forget that and let it spill over into the 4wheel world....

Hmm... good question... and that columbine thing was horrible...
But we're also a Scottish Canadian household, so, yes, sometimes we do sometimes we get drunk and forget lol
