multiple cranks to start now no start

I just purchased a 2000 mustang v6 automatic a few months ago and I am having some problems with it starting. For the last couple of weeks I would have to crank it 2 to 3 times to get it to start. It turns over great but it just won't start. Went out today to crank it and it won't fire up. Any ideas what would be causing this.

Is it turning over? How many miles on the car? Could be time for a complete tune up.

No dead battery. It turns over great. Just replaced all of the plugs and serp belt. It has 91k miles. I also just had the oil and differential changed. Seems to be in decent shape

Well, its either fuel, air, or spark if its turning over. you could pull your fuel rail and turn the motor over a couple times to check for clogged injectors, or you could pull plug wires to see if its sparking. Might even be your coil. Too many variables to list.

Like 04mustang232 said, it is either fuel or spark. Figure out which one it is, then try to figure out why.

Is the fuel pump priming when you turn the key far enough to turn the accessories on but not far enough to start the engine?

Went through this a few weeks ago. Our 2001 v6 would crank but not start on the first try. I put a fuel pressure guage on the fuel rail. The fuel pump was getting weak. The pressure would not build up until we cranked it a few times.
I suspect you need a fuel pump, but you need to check the pressure at the rail to verify

Thanks guys. I was suspecting it might be the fuel pump. I will try and have it towed in.
