8.8" Rear Axle

I'm going to put in a 8.8 this summer. I need to go to a salvage yrd and find a 99-04 GT to get it. The thing is, how much should i spend on a rear axle. I'm going to completely rebuild it. I'm also going to put eithr 3.73 or 4.10 gears in. That is another story but anyways heres some questions i have:
1.) How much should i spend on a rear axle?
2.) How much would it cost for me to rebuild the whole thing?
3.) After i rebuild it, will it just bolt right back up to my suspension and everything?
4.) Do i need to get anything else for the rear axle to work on my V6?

everything bolts up. if the rear end isnt damage you dont have to rebuild it. just throw some gears and t-lock if you want to put new ones in. if you go to a place were you pull it yourself its alot cheaper

well but the thing is for my project...for me to graduate...i decided to rebuild it. Maybe i'll have a professional help me install my gears. Who knows. I'd go to a salvage yrd and do it if anything. I think they'd let me pull it of myself wouldn't they?

1.) How much should i spend on a rear axle?

Used they go anywhere from $500-$850

2.) How much would it cost for me to rebuild the whole thing?

Good gears ~$225
Seals, bearing, shims ~$85
Clutch packs ~$70
Spider kit ~$100 (good idea to replace these)
Fluids ~$30
Rear diff cover ~$140
New carrier studs ~$30
Prof install ~$300

3.) After i rebuild it, will it just bolt right back up to my suspension and everything?

Yes

4.) Do i need to get anything else for the rear axle to work on my V6?

If you buy aftermarket LCAs you can probably forgo the quad (slop) shocks.

(prices are subject to vary)

junkyard

if its a pull it yourself place drf. if not they might give you trouble but if you explain its for a project then they might let you slide. gears arnt that hard to put in at all just dont completely take the axles out or it sucks. you might need a driveshaft adapter to

Shit you can spend 15 hours by going to the junk yard, pulling it off, taking it to a mechanic to use his lift then bolting it up. If you spend time to figure it out and do it yourself or have the mechanic direct you then you'll get over 15 hours easy.

Well you can stretch it in your paper if you say he explained it to you. I think the time spent on the forums should count as experience hours.

didnt you already ask this a week ago? His rear will bolt up fine. I went to a "you pick it, you pull it" lot and got my 8.8 for $60.00

dont spend 300 on a used one.

i repeat, the 95 150 will bolt right up.
