Buying my FIRST car - 05 V6 Mustang
Hey everyone, im in the process of purchasing a used 05 Mustang at 75k miles. This will be my first time owning a car of my own. I have ZERO experience/skills installing/bolting on add-ons or mods.
My question(s) is this a good deal for a 5/6 yr old car at 75k for about 12gs? It's had 2 previous owners and no accidents according to the carfax. Also, the first thing I really want to do is change the exhaust to the dual borla stingers exhaust. I LOVE the deep rumble sound I've seen come from them in videos. But like I said this is my first car and I don't have anyone in my friends/family that is into anything like this so im turning to MM for some guidance. Any other tips or suggestions on furthering my enjoyment with my soon to be precious beauty would be greatly appreciated ![]() EDIT: Also its automatic if that matters (sadly I haven't learned to drive stick yet) |

price is a little high man...you can find decent '06-07 v6's around here in the 11k range...btw since this is your first car...just enjoy it for a while...take your time to decide what directions you want to take with it, and then save for it

I live in NY and the car is from NJ the price from what i've seen all over seemed average, I was hoping if I was to pay in full I can maybe knock off a grand or two. Also the car has a custom paint job already done to it that I absolutely love. Other than that there doesn't look to be any other changes to the engine (then again I wouldnt know how to spot a change)

Maybe I used the wrong term? Lol anything that isn't straight from the dealer I considered custom lol but I do like it. Its simple yet eye catching IMO. I will definitely take your advice and offer 9 cash. But I really do have my heart set on this model, it would be tough to walk away but you guys are the experts I will take your advice. What should my max bid be?

Well that probably is a little upgrade of a paint job but the dealership can get those for you. Its a little high price, I got my car for 4 grand and it had some of the mods done to it. I say go for it, or keep looking but don't pass up a Mustang! You will love it, if you pass this one up, look for the GT's, the v8 is awesome.
Congrats on the car though bro, good luck with everything, we will see ya on here im sure.

Yeah I've been a member on this site for over a year, 2 years ago I decided I really wanted a mustang and I would save up every spare dollar for it.... but the recession, then unemployment, then a gf a kid and life pretty much set me back. But I didn't stop saving what I can, and now I have what I need to offer a good deal. If the car was V8 would the price be justified? I honestly wanted a V8 but more for bragging rights LOL. Having a car alone is brag worthy for me around here but I love to make a show haha

haha I understand..umm its still a little high. I mean if you see it and its in great shape inside and out then go for it. You wont be upset..well you might have wished you searched around for a v8 if you have any hesitation

Ahhh Now I need to find a V8 LOL Hopefully the dealership will have one hidden away I can check out. I'll have to give them a call tonight. My main concern against the v8s was my insurance and gas. I don't need to starve because my V8 decided to run my insurance up $$ lol especially with me being 24, Male, NEW YORK, sports car etc etc

I am 20 and had a $400 insurance on a dodge neon, now I got my car and its dropped to $150? How weird is that. I have a few tickets too so I have no idea how it dropped like that. But im not going to lie, gas is a huge pain in the ass. But you get what you pay for and I wouldn't trade my car for anything. But yea see what they say about the v8, never hurts to look

The quote I received on that specific v6 was 240$ a month full coverage from geico and I was pretty damn sold since every other quote from other companies were 400 - 450. I am TRYING to take gas into consideration but I wouldn't let it stop me from getting a bad ass V8 LOL i'll just make my friends pay for gas is they trying to go somewhere LOL.
Definitely an exciting time though no matter if i end up with a v6 or a v8 I'll just be all too happy to stop being on the public train with smelly ppl lol |

haha I feel ya. I lowered my insurance to less than full coverage actually I forgot to mention that. But yeah anything is better than nothing, specially a mustang. Loads of opportunity with these cars. Do you plan on modding the car? Or which ever mustang you get?

I definitely do intend to put more than cosmetics into it. Over time of course. Anything impulsive will probably be purely cosmetic just because if I mess my car up i'll have to hear the nagging voices of my gf and mother at the same time with the "I TOLD YOU!" lol
I actually wanted to have the gears changed to 4.10 but because the car is automatic Im not sure how much of a difference it will make. |

HAHAHA I think thats exactly what happened. Im glad I remembered this forum LOL I woulda jumped up and spent the 12k just to get the car in my hands already. Im going to keep searching around, when I check out the car if they don't negotiate to something around 9 - 10 I'll continue looking. A GT would be really nice If I can find one in great condition.
