Custom cai.
I want to do somthing different with my CAI. I would like to know how far or close should the MAF be to TB? Does the air temp sender need to be behind MAF?

Hmm... What are you thinking for as far as how your going to make your new one? I mean how close are you thinking of having the MAF sensor? As far as distance, as long as it is not right next to the TB I am almost 99 percent sure that it does not matter.

I like the idea actually, would look better if it was one or two turbos sticking out there though
![]() But question, why are you asking how close the MAF can be to the TB? If your custom making it just keep the MAF in the same place and just add the piping w/ filter to the grille area. So you don't have to extend the MAF plug wires or anything, keep it simple. Just my opinion though.

You will need custom tuning if you do anything crazy. The maf is super sensitive to very small changes in the intake path. You do not want to expose the maf to direct air off the front of the car because the car will run way rich, unless you can get the maf far enough back so that it doesn't see turbulence. You don't really want to change the location of the maf without tuning because the ecu knows how far the maf is and how long the air takes to get into the cylinders. You also dont want to have maf too close to the throttle body.

The air temp sensor just needs to measure the incoming air temp. t doesn't really matter where it is in relation to the maf. Just be sure to check the tune before you blow the engine due to a lean mixture and a funky intake.

my old homebrew intake i had the MAF upside down about 5 inches i want to say from the throttle, and it was held inplace by silicone lol. So i think it would work for that setup.

why not just run the maf in between the filter and the TB maybe like 8 inches away from each. i dont think it matter as long as its right next to the tb, you just want it to get an accurate measure of incoming air.
and i actually thought about doing this if i ever got a windstar upper because i think it looks good as hell when you have a straight intake pipe like that and also no curves or bend to hinder airflow.
