Putting a bigger Engine/Transmission in the stock v6?

I was thinking about getting a v8 and a new transmission and selling my v6 stock Engine 3.8 and transmission. And putting a newer Engine and transmission into the car, Has anyone on here done this? i am wanting to do it for a project this winter is the car compatible with a gt engine and transmission from any year from 1999-2005? Would this be worth it?

you know you have a list somewhere...we all know it's not just a straight swap lol..there's other components needed or every v6 owner would have a v8....just like if it was easy i'd do the 3v 4.6 swap like that other guy did...
