Need Info to replace totaled 98 Mustang - Gold Emblems

I am looking for as much info as I can to replace a friends mustang i totaled today (was t-boned at a stop sign - everyone involved is ok)..

V6 / 5 Speed
Odometer read 264k miles
Only option I know of is power mirrors

The thing the owner went on and on about was it was a "gold series" (it has gold emblems). Does this mean anything?

Is this just another v6 with gold emblems, or is it something else?

I dont think it means anything... I looked online and it said dealerships sometimes swap the emblems to a gold color to call it a special edition. It also said the "limited" edition didn't have a v6

Just find some gold emblems and a new car and you will be good to go

I did a few google searches and could only come across 1 place talking about a 99 v6. That resource said that the "limited" were v8.

Hopefully I could get a few more responses to confirm this. - Reason I came here, to ask the pros.

Funny, the owner said he was offered $1k for the emblems... Ive be able to find them for under $100 (I'm sure they can be found even cheaper than that)....

ive never seen one with gold emblems before, but I would say it was a dealership move with doing that like other say just so they could say its "limited" or whatever to get more money outta it.

I'll try to go by the wrecking yard where the car is at to take pics (maybe more), but they are basically the same emblems, just gold. I can find the front logo (free standing running horse) in gold no problem online, but cannot find the side logos in gold... any suggestions?

I was pretty sure it was just another v6 with different emblems. Now to see if its cheaper to replace or pay off.......

if it is in fact a legit gold edition they are coated in real gold not painted. But in this case i doubt it is.

I see no problem with the wheels, the tires are a little dirty though ... A quick drive would fix that

Why don't you retain ownership of the totaled car and salvage the gold emblems off it?

To do so you will have to pay the insurance company the salvage value of the car.

Not an option as its not my car. A friend was letting me borrow the vehicle until I was able to purchase my own vehicle. Besides, If you had seen the quality of the emblems, you would probably not be saying that (well, maybe except for the real gold part)...

There is someone very interested in the engine (He happens to be a Chevy guy, only big blocks - But his daughter wanted a Mustang. When he couldn't make her change her mind to a Camaro, he got her a Mustang). He offered $800 for it last year (when the Mustang in question was in a rear end accident - $3K damage).
