Quick question about interior lighting.

I got some footwell LED strips that i plan on installing today, but i have a question. I'm gonna refer to the HOW TO if i run into any problems, but if im using the accessory port (center console cigarette lighter) do i have to cut the power and ground wire from it, making it useless, or can i just tie the power into the power cable and ground into the ground and leave the wires connected to the accessory port?

ALSO

I purchased 2 blue LED dome lights the other day on ebay, i didnt realize that when you open the door/unlock the car/etc. that theres a middle light in the dome light, and than 2 side lights. Is there a way i can make it so the blue LED dome lights go on when i unlock the car or open the door and stuff, or do i have to buy a third bulb for that? Are all 3 bulbs the same? Could i just use one of the 2 LED's i bought and install it into the middle dome light bulb?

edit: ALSO, for the ground from the LED strips, can i just wire those together and tie them into the ground for the cigarette lighter?

also, if I can just tie the power and ground into the accessory port wires, wouldn't it be easier to just tie them into the wires for the cigarette lighter? it seems the only reason the HOW TO guide shows to use the accessory port instead is so that he could mount the switch in place of the accessory port.

full of questions, lol...

Not sure on the dome light, just pop off the cover and check. As for the LED strip, easiest way to do it is run an inline 10A fuse, ground the lights off on a bolt under the dash (your seats work too if you have a lug big enough for the bolts), and run the power to any source that only works when your car is on (ie. the Radio).

The fuse will keep you from starting a fire should the power arc for any reason...
