Engine swaps
In light of everyone asking about engine swaps im going to break it down as what needs to be replaced and what can swap over. Will need a tuner as well. I feel we need a thread explaining it to people.
The difference between the GT and v6 -Engine -ECU -Radiator -Fog lights -8.8 lsd -Rims -Rear sway bar -Transmission -Leather seats -Speedometer (up to 160 mph) -Exhaust Transmission: 1. Auto:The 4R70W should handle enough tq for a swap just need to swap the torque converter. The transmission in the GT is a 4R75W is an upgraded 4R70w and was used in the 03-04 mach 1 and GT's. It has a greater torque capacity (generalized). 2. Manual: TREMEC T-5, is the manual transmission for v6 and GT till 2000, TR-3650: for 01-04 GT's, T-56 for 03-04 terminators all can be used for the swap. Since the engine is out swap the clutch while your at it. Engine: The engine that have been swapped are the 4.6 SOHC, 4.6 DOHC, 5.4 SOHC, and 5.4 DOHC. Though other engines can be used its good to match the year model with year model. Note: The 5.4 will need the 4.6 intake manifold to fit into the engine as the 5.4 sits higher. A radiator out of a GT should work for all the engines. The 4.6 and 5.4 SOHC are practically identical and can swap parts around mostly 4.6 to 5.4 parts. ECU (engine control unit): It and the wiring harnesses will need to be swap for the conversion. Swap out of a mustang gt or whatever car you pulled the engine from match the engine to the ECU is the easiest. The gage cluster will need to be swapped. Exhaust: The exhaust needs to be cut because a 5.4 sits closer two the firewall. The headers will need to be swapped because people have had problems making them fit. An H pipe will be needed for the swap with the exhaust for all of them will need to be cut to fit if it isn't the 4.6. 8.8 rear (v8) and 7.5 (v6): Look a "look here before asking about mods" sticky ![]() Suspension: Is relatively the same except the GT has a rear sway bar. Brakes: Are the same like suspension. If theres anything i got wrong or left out like i feel i did please let me know and i will change is and give credit to you . I'm tired so im just going to post it but it might be a mistake lol. Reference: Mustang Engine Swap - Installing a 5.4L Motor in a New Edge - 5.0 Mustang & Super Fords Magazine

Thanks +1
When doing an engine swap, what should been done first? Like should the actual engine be the last things placed in? The way some people talk, the stock items on a v6 can handle it as long as you don't go "crazy", with crazy ranging in difference. Should the 8.8 rear be intalled first? |

Define crazy?
The 7.5 can be used since a stock engine wont be enough to brake it. Were talking 300hp tops to the wheels. Its up to you in the long run.
