My boss worries about me since I have seemingly no fear about the streets (you just gotta be street smart, really) since I'm a girl... He used to tell me all the time not to go out past Peoria after dark (when I'm at work, haha). Bad things do happen daily, but I'm on the good side of the city. But I used to work down that "bad" way...it's a whole different animal, for sure.
