2?'s: Shaking//Window Louvres
Hi. I've got a stock 99 automatic Mustang with 100k miles on it. Something that's been bothering me for a while is sometimes when my car is in drive, but I'm stopped (for example at a stoplight) suddenly the car will begin to shake really hard. Sometimes it happens after I idle in park then switch to reverse or drive, other times it will just happen. It's stated up over the last 7 or so months, though I've been noticing it a lot more over the last few months. I'm worried that something may be wrong with the transmission. Oh and I don't think this can be attributed to the cold, as it happens when the car is running at it's normal temperature. I've done the normal maintenance on the car (including transmission fluid, which I recently found out was done for the first time at 100k miles when I did it).
On a side note, is there anywhere to get 1/4 window Louvres for a 99 mustang? They seem to make them for just about every year but the 99. Thanks everyone! :) |

mine does the same thing at stoplights as well, ive got an old tread somewhere on here about it, it might be u joints or the transfew case, and if you have dual exhaust it might be hitting the driveshaft. And for window louvers check americanmuscle, i think they might have a few sets!

Whoops, I forgot that there's more than one louvre type for Mustangs. I'm looking for the slitted one which you can still see out of (similar to the rear window Louvres). Seen them for other years just not mine.
Thanks for the suggestions on the shaking. I don't have dual exhaust, so it eliminates that potential, but I'll check into everything else you suggested. |

I said similar, like the same style. I'm looking for the Quarter window Louvres, in the same style as the rear window louvre, because I don't like the blind spot that the Xeon quarter window louvre looks like it adds. Not that I look over my shoulder a whole lot, I'd just like to not obscure my view when I do.
Thanks anyways though

First off, are you getting a CEL? If so, get the codes and come back here with them.
If not, how long has it been since you changed the sparkplugs, wires, fuel filter, etc.? Have you checked the engine mounts? Do the rpms fluctuate when it happens, or do you just feel a vibration? Is the car acting up while you're moving at all, or only when you're stopped? Can you get a video of it acting up? You have a four-wheel drive Mustang?!? You don't have a transfer case, and bad u-joints will not cause a vibration while the car is sitting still.
