Am I doing this right?

Alright, so I was just told tonight that I need to rack up a list or an online shopping cart with things for christmas. I was told of my spending limit (not revealing it) but apparently I can get a bunch of stuff

So since I need to get rid of my bogus rims that belong on a BMW or something along the lines I am in the wheel market, and who better than to go through AM right? Well there is no question about it I am going with a lip up front and DD in the back, is there any other way? lol. So I THINK I picked out the right sized rims but now comes tires and I have NO idea what sizes to pick because of the offset of the DD rims and the rims with the lip. Ill show you what I am working with.

So yea I decided to go with black bullitts. Too many people in my area have Saleens and FR500's and the only bullitt rims I have noticed around here are just the stockers for GT's.

What size tires do I need/do you guys recommend? 315/35-17's for the back and 275/40-17's in the front? Sorry I don't know a damn thing about rims and tires so I need help. Thanks guys.

On a side note, I found the reciept from when the previous owner bought the rims that are on my car now, without tires they paid $1,200! Too bad they arent in good shape otherwise I would be reselling these.

well i would stick with a 285 width in the rear, nice and easy to find and reasonable on cost.

for the front i would go 255, im not sure about wall height as i have 18's but im running 40 in the front 35 in the rear

am also has a recommended tire size section on the info page for each wheel

also with a 315 you might need to roll your fenders but im not 100% sure on that one

Thats where I got my numbers on tire size that i posted

AM said 315/35-17's for the back and 275/40-17's for the front. But I wanted to run it by everyone to double check. I know I don't need very expensive tires, just tires that will get the job done. Too bad I will be getting these in the middle of winter and will be forced to look at them for 3-4 months until I can put them on the car So I am throwing half the money in for a tuner so I can at least use one goody while I wait. Also can't forget about the LT's I am 95% sure I am getting.

I got a tire shop within a 2 minute driving distance from me, had my Jeep's 2 front tires replaced there for $120 for the 2 tires, mounting, balancing, everything. Tires were "used" but still had the stickers on the tred and looked brand new lol. He told me to go there if my stang ever needed tires (he drives a black GT vert) and said he would hook me up. But I don't want to rely on that and just get 4 rims, know what I mean?

Thanks for the help btw, reps.

315s will work on a 17 inch rim... 285s on an 18 inch rim... If you go with those get the ones with the rivets around the edges.. A little detail can help alot!!!!

a 315 on a 17 inch rim will cost about the same as a 285 on 18 I believe...

I just hope that shop has a set of 315s laying around ahh

285 on a 10.5in rim will be small. I have 275 on a 10in... I'd go a lil wider than that out back.

I'd stick with 245 up front. Will fill a 9in rim and not give you too much surface area where you'll be pulling all over the road. I am one who doesn't understand why people throw wide ass tires on the front. Makes no sense.

Go with 18's !
and even if those rims are beat up you could probably still get something out of them. Throw them on craigslist.

if your getting 315's in the rear, should think about wheel spacers

they make the stance on your car from the rear look aggressive as hell.

is there a specific reason ur going with 17" instead of 18"

For tires on an 18" 305/35/18 OR 305/40/18 both are close to stock for rears and shouldnt require you to turn in your fender or anything as long as you get the proper offset, the 35's will be slightly lower profile.

for the front on 18" id get 255/40/18's the size of the wheel up front can differ from stock as it will not effect your spedo, they are still close to stock though, you could go with 255/45's and they the same height as stock but not as low profile.

For 17's which you have listed, a 305/40/17 is very close to stock in the rear.

up front 255/50/17 is exact match in height, but id go with 255/45/17 for the lower profile.

With the proper offset wheel you should have 100% (or VERY close to) turn rate up front, and no rubbing in the backs.

18's are heavy...and without the power to turn them you're slowing your car down on the track...i love the looks of 18's but wouldn't put them on my GT...17s give you a great look and performance

yeah i just wasnt sure if he cared about that too much, but i listed both sets for him.

and green mustang i have physical charts in front of me from when i owned my store the rears i suggested are within .6" of stock and the fronts which dont really matter are within 1" (assuming the tires i HAD on my car were stock, 215 65 16's, i just recently replaced mine with 245 45 17's all around.

Got a handheld tuner, Demon? New wheels/tires are going to throw your speed off. Oh, and paint those old rims once you get the new ones

I've got 285s on a 10" wide rim. If he's going with 10.5" then I think he should go for the 315s. Everybody dreams of having them but most people don't ever buy rims wide enough to fit them
