To get 300 hp you'll need at least a cam and ported/polished intakes to reach 300 even with f/I.

you're thinking 190hp to the crank which is what car companies use to sell cars...they know 90% of the country is stupid and hears the high number and thinks wow that alot in reality your car has 160-170 rwhp (rear wheel hp)...and thats what really matters...so with all those mods he should be a little under 200rwhp...at least my friend Zachs car was...it took a cam to bump him up over that, but it was still not enough..so he sold teh car and got a 2010 v6 lol |

the best way to get to 300 rwhp is FI, most likely a centrifugal blower because it will probably be the cheapest. You could get that for ~$2k. Turbo is better, but if you ONLY want 300rwhp, an M112 would be really nice for the street with low end torque.
But gears and t-lok are still good. Just I wouldn;t waste stuff on little mods if I did it again. And windstar is a good mod. It is a better location to run piping for any setup IMO and will yield better power results(unless you're going M112, then it will be unneeded). A cam is also near the top of the list. And it is a good learning experience. You'll really find out how your car works. And the results are noticeable for not that much money.
