check out threads at the top of this section, and the search bar will help to
I also recomend T lok and 4:10's Tuner exhaust intake if you really want it, preferably the windstar kit from VAPauto

4.10s/t-lok are the best bang for the buck to make a car feel faster, they take away from your top speed and give you acceleration in exchange, but if you do a lot of highway driving I'd recommend 3.73s. A windstar intake kit is a nice way to add 6/7 hp and a little more torque too. It's from vapauto.com You could look also look into a cam, supersix makes a "lumpy" one most people like, or a member on here named ESG can get you a nice one if you PM him. You could also look into Long Tube headers. They're a bitch to install but they add some nice sound and a little power.

Auto or manual?
Def. go with gears and tlok as mentioned. A tune will wake up an auto like whoa, and helps with mods on a manual as well. There are other driveline mods to be done depending on trans type. I would upgrade suspension as well, to me thats a huge part of making these cars fun to drive, as the stock suspension is not the best. A little to a lot can be done in that department, itd be good to know how much you plan on spending on how much you really want to change.

Auto= 1. Tuner, 2. 4.10/3.73(better mpg if highway driving) and Tlok (posi trac), 3. Nos :p
Really for an auto 1 & 2 are your best options for acceleration. |

This is what I would do. I will give you some details to make it easier
Mac longtubes to divorced flowmaster 40's 2.25 piping about $600 Windstar swap $400 or less Tuner $400 or less 8.8 rear end off a GT about $300 and whatever suspension parts you can find After these mods you should have 190rwhp 215rwtrq which to me would be fine and then if you need more cam , turbo , supercharger , lower it , wheels

What's your budget?
If you've only got $50/month to spend on your car, suggestions will be much different than if you have $500/month. I'd start out by making sure all the basic maintenance is done. If you don't know the last time a tune-up was done, that's a good place to start. Won't cost you much, and while it's not exciting and doesn't get you 900 horsepowers, it does make sure that you're not giving up any of the ponies your pony came with stock. For your '02, sub-frame connectors are an absolute must. Again, not a glory item, but they will make a much better platform for you to mod from. I like Maximum Motorsports', Steedas are supposed to have slightly better fitment, but as long as you stick with a reputable company and don't waste your time with bolt-on SFCs, you'll be fine. If you're gonna be driving fast, you need to make sure your brakes are up to snuff. My recommendation is to get *good* pads up front (Porterfield, Hawk, or EBC, -not- parts house crap), stainless braided lines (the set of three, not a set of two - you need the line that goes from the chassis to the rear axle), and to flush your brake fluid, replacing it with a good DOT 4 fluid (unless you're running an LMA fluid, you should be flushing your brake fluid at least annually anyway). With that setup, you will never need to upgrade your brakes unless you start running track days, and it's considerably cheaper than a caliper/rotor upgrade. Any weight you can pull out of the car will help you in all aspects of performance. If you can lose it up front that's better, but anywhere is helpful. Lightweight wheels are a huge boon to performance. Any pound you can shed there is a pound you don't have to spend energy to turn when you're accelerating, which turns not just into better off-the-line performance, but better cornerning, braking, and fuel economy. All nice for a DD. I certainly won't argue with the suggestions for gears. Gears will be ~$150-200 for the parts, plus the labor to install. I'd recommend budgeting $500, and be pleasantly surprised when it's slightly less than that. And don't forget your tires. Tires are the #2 most important thing when it comes to the performance of a vehicle, #1 being the driver. No matter how much power you make, or how good your suspension is, if you have crappy tires it's all for naught.

I highly recommend an SCT handheld tuner-best bang for the buck!! Gears are great, since you are daily you will want to stick with 3.73s. You have a cold air intake yet?

If you want 300hp you're gonna need to spend more than a grand. Check out the bolt on stickies at the top of the V6 section. It'll give you an idea of where to start. Welcome to MM.

You'll need to dig into the engine and get some type of f/i to reach 300rwhp. Rev had some awesome suggestions. When you get gears, you'll want to get some type of limited slip differential. I recommend a Detroit tru-trac over the t-lok. I would honestly do gears/lsd and a tuner first. It'll fill like a whole new car. Also, don't fall into the trap of doing every minor bolt on. Figure out your goal, and build on things now that will help you reach it. Welcome to MM.

Ok, forget everything and just get FI no reason to get bolt ons when you could just save some cash and run 7.2 on a 5557 a GT rear end and some suspension/frame stuff.
