I was just reading a thread about someone complaining that his 2000 (auto) mustang could no longer smoke the tires from a dead stop, well i have a 99 and it has never been able to get anything more than an occational squeek out of the tires unless its raining. So is this abnormally low performance for a mustang? I just thought this is how weak they all were.

o u can throw some smoke if ya put that left foot on the brake and the right foot on the gas.... well at least from one wheel

yea i can do that, but i got nothing without holding the brake, is that normal? My car has high miles

Autos suck...period...hammering the gas is prolly making you bog down

depends on tires, surface, but yea sometimes mine will spin em...well one good but sometimes it wont...not really sure i can 100% answer ur question tho, on the 04 i have the traction lock too so idk, but on my 99 when i had it i could spin really easy and it was pretty much stock and that had around 100k miles on it

i got a 5spd so i i have to do is get the rpm's up and dump the clutch if i really want to burn out, but im trying to save that till i get my t-loc, IMO one tire mark looks kinda lame

i beg to differ, when an auto is fixed up right it can be a shitload better than a stick, but sticks are more fun for just messin around

mine is a DD too and i thought the same thing when i bought it, but its just to much fun, i wont ever own an auto again, 5spd is way to much fun. only time it really sucks is sitting in traffic on the freeway, but its worth that little bit of suckiness cause its fun to drive every time else.

driving a stick doesnt bother me a bit in traffic. its kind of fun because people behind you seem to get pissed or tired of not seeing your brake lights the whole time

haha ya very true, but if u sit in traffic long enough your leg starts to feel like its gunna fall off

my clutch is sooo freaking easy to push in, its an oem clutch and pressure plate

where do u live though, here in cali on the 91 freeway ive sat in traffic for almost 2 hours for a 30min drive home and no matter how easy your your clutch is to push after bumper to bumper for 2 hours your leg will get tired

i live in houston texas, horrible horrible traffic. i drive an hour to work(thats just the shop) then an hour or so to the jobsite and then 1-2 hours on the way home depending on what time i get off.
