sct3 tuner on auto, downshift issues.

this is for an auto

Ok so i have been running my tuner for like a month now and i have set the drive rev limiter set to 5800rpm. and i DID not adjust any of the WOT shift points.

ok well it shifts from 1-2 at 5800rpm's, strange since i didnt change the shift point as 2-3 and 3-4 both shift at the stock mark. so only first gear shifts there for some reason, even when i didnt adjust any shift points just the limiter.

anyway i want to have the 2-3 shift at like 5600-5700 as well so i goto the WOT shift points, and i did not adjust 1-2 since it already shifts at 5800. i set 2-3 at 5mph over to see where that would get me, and it shifted around 5500-5600 ok great!

but now that i have adjusted it, say im going 30mph and i go WOT, it will NOT shift into first gear. so ill be in like 3rd at 30mph and it only downshifts to 2nd!?!? so i tested it going 60mph and i was in 4th. it only downshifted to 3rd!?!! seems like it doesn't wanna downshift to the right gear.

is it something with the torque converter or is the ecu just being stupid. i would like to adjust my 2-3 shift point but i cant without this problem.

just weird because 1-2 will shift wherever i set the rev limit and the other shifts will stay at the stock mark.

i guess until i can get an answer or figure it out im just gonna leave the shift points at stock and only 1-2 will be shifting where i want for now.

Sometimes mine wont sownshift depending on where the speed is at, usually does correctly though. Might message bama, or who ever your tuner is, doesnt sound like things are right, but if you start messing w/ that stuff yourself, you may mess things up ...

i dont have a custom tune, just the pre-programmed ones with the adjustables, i just dont feel like paying the extra money for bama to send me a tune when all i run is 87 anyway. mainly wanted it for shift firmness and shift points

The tunes you can do yourself are fine for our cars IMO, until you get more "major" mods. I basically went with the 93 octane / 6k rev limit and harder shifts.. Works perfect for me that way.

Maybe trying returning it to the stock program and re-do it ?

Hey question, If I get the sct tune for my 09 automatic V6 can I tune it and continue using 87 octane? I don't want to bump it to the 93 octane fuel. Also will I have this downshift problem also? Im always being warned about tuning the car but Im in the process of buying a CAI and True duel exhaust system and I wanted to have the car tuned as well.

If you purchased the programmer from us, the Bama custom tunes for your vehicle are free.

As for the preloaded tunes being okay, I wouldn't come to that conclusion just yet. There are PLENTY of things that need to be changed from an SCT value file, not only in order for proper engine operation, but to keep the tune "clean" and remove unnecessary adders and subtracters for fueling, timing, etc.

We can make a night/day improvement on an SCT value file tune.

Chris

thanks but i didnt buy it from you guys, i bought it used. It just doesn't make any sense to me that when i change the shift points it doesn't wanna downshift when i go WOT. it almost always locks at like 2500rpms.
